Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) dominated OG, 2-0, in their group stage matchup at the ESL One Birmingham Online EU/CIS league to force them to an early exit from the tournament.

OG continued to struggle even after fielding its full lineup for ESL One Birmingham Online. NiP took advantage of their opponent’s shaky form in game two of their series by going with a last-pick Meepo to eliminate them.

After NiP convincingly won the series opener, OG looked to bounce back with a strong teamfight lineup that could scale into lategame. Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan was put on safelane a Dragon Knight, Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen was on Arc Warden, Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng was on Clockwerk, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov was on Phoenix, and Johan “N0tail” Sundstein was on a support Puck.

NiP threw a wrench in OG’s plans with a last-pick Meepo for Ondřej “Supream^” Štarha to round out what was already a robust midgame composition with Charlie “CharlieDota” Arat on Troll Warlord, Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek on an offlane Death Prophet, Adrian “Era” Kryeziu on Nyx Assassin, and Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev on Oracle.

NiP dominated the early game, as they easily repelled multiple attempts by OG to take a successful gank and make space for Topson to farm safely. While OG was able to take advantage of their opponent’s over-aggression to win a four-for-one trade at the 18-minute mark, by then NiP had already accrued a 6,000 gold advantage that only continued to grow.

While OG were finally able to take down Supream’s Meepo at the 19-minute mark, it did little to stop NiP from snowballing out of control. Despite OG’s best efforts to claw their way back into the game, NiP simply ran them over in one teamfight after another to force the GG call after 30 minutes.

Supream notched a game-high 12 kills against only one death to lead his team, while SoNNeikO and Charlie pitched in eight and seven kills of their own, respectively.

While NiP may have eliminated OG from the group stage, they didn’t advance into the playoffs themselves after getting the short end of the stick in a four-way tie with CIS teams HellRaisers, FlytoMoon, and Cyber Legacy.
