Team Secret captain, Clement “Puppey” Ivanov, is one of the most successful esports pros in the world.
One of only two players to have competed at every single edition of The International (the other is Team Nigma’s Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi), and a winner of the very first The International with Natus Vincere in 2011, Puppey is one of the very few professional players to have remained at the top of his game for over ten years.
ONE Esports recently caught up with Puppey to find out what drives him to succeed.
“For me, it’s the incredible amount of interest I have in Dota 2. I truly love its essence and what puzzles it provides me to figure out,” said Puppey. “I also really like the teamwork aspect of it. The complexity of the game gets very high when many individuals work hard to succeed and it’s a beautiful sight to see.”
With over 100 professional tournaments under his belt, Puppey has traveled to over 30 countries around the world to compete. But even after ten years on the road, Puppey says he still enjoys traveling.
“For me personally, it is about expanding your view of the world. It is a great experience to meet new people from different cultures and I always cherish it,” said Puppey.
“I have found many lasting friends through my travels and I won’t stop any time soon.”
Recently, you may have noticed Puppey carrying TUMI gear on his travels, like the recently released TUMI Alpha Bravo esports collection.
The Secret captain revealed why he chose TUMI, saying, “I think the most important part about traveling is comfort. I feel way more relaxed when I have all my things neatly packed in compartments that are easily accessible. I like my TUMI bag because I enjoy having many pockets and areas so I can remember systematically where everything is stored. “
As for what Puppey packs when he travels, he revealed, “I usually pack two sets of gear (for gaming), headphones, cleaning products, medicine, any paperwork necessary for the trip, passport, phone charger, adapters, water, toothbrush, toothpaste, and probably other smaller things.”
Puppey will be making a special appearance on this week’s episode of The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition where Team Valor and Team Conquest will be asking him for advice on what a professional esports champion needs to succeed.
