Day 2 of the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 European Closed qualifiers featured an intense match between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Alliance.
During game two of their best-of-two Group Stage match, Alliance tried to secure the Aegis of the Immortal for Niko “Nikobaby” Nikolov’s Troll Warlord who had a Divine Rapier. But, NiP managed to bait Nikobaby out of the Rosh Pit and Jason “TANNER” Weedon quickly Skewered the enemy hard carry onto the cliff.
Nikobaby was forced to use his Black King Bar and teleport to remove himself from the cliff. The Troll Warlord ran straight back to the Rosh Pit where he would be caught by TANNER and cliffed a second time with his Reverse Polarity and Skewer combo.
With Nikobaby out of the picture, NiP easily secured the Aegis and then eliminated the Troll Warlord and relieved him of his Divine Rapier.
After gaining a 13,000 gold advantage with Nikobaby’s Divine Rapier, NiP remained in control for the rest of the match. Alliance attempted to take a team fight at the Rosh Pit a few minutes later, but Nikobaby found himself Skewered a third time to the same cliff in the final moments of the game.
Ninjas in Pyjamas finish their EU Closed Qualifier Group Stage run with a record of 5-3. They are tied for second place in Group B with Team Liquid which will be decided with a tie-breaker match between the two teams.
The winner will advance to the Playoffs to face Team Secret. The loser will go up against Alliance in the Minor Qualifier Decider match.
