TNC Predator are back in top form, clinching the first WePlay AniMajor spot for the Southeast Asian region.

The all-Filipino squad defeated their rival and tournament favorites Fnatic in a back-and-forth DPC 2021 Season 2 Southeast Asia Upper Division match. Fnatic won the first game of the series after pulling off an impressive comeback against TNC.

TNC Predator is back to Major form

After losing the first game to Fnatic, the Filipino squad answered back with a stellar Puck performance from Armel “Armel” Tabios. The talented midlaner consistently made game-winning plays that gave TNC the edge going into the late game. Armel finished with a 10/2/16 KDA.

TNC’s team captain Marvin “Boomy” Rushton contributed to his team by landing multiple stuns on Snapfire. With the Aghanim’s Shard upgrade, Boomy used the Gobble Up ability on a Centaur Conqueror and stunned three Fnatic heroes inside the Rosh Pit, which gave TNC a decisive team fight win.

TNC Predator showcases a new draft playstyle

In the third and final game of the series, TNC Predator outdrafted Fnatic by picking Bristleback for Armel, and an Ursa for Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte. With two tanky cores and Jun “Bok” Kanehara’s offlane Enigma, Fnatic was unable to kite the Filipino squad’s carry heroes, even with Marc “Raven” Fausto’s Drow Ranger.

Bok ended the series with a double-Black Hole inside Fnatic’s base, which earned TNC Predator their biggest win of the season.

DPC 2021 Season 2 Southeast Asia Upper Division possible outcomes

TNC Predator’s reverse sweep win over Fnatic moved them to the top of the DPC 2021 Season 2 Southeast Asia Upper Division standings with a 5-2 record. The victory also guaranteed them a spot in the upcoming WePlay AniMajor tournament.

The final game of the DPC 2021 Season 2 Southeast Asia Upper Division between OB.Neon and T1 will decide the fate of five teams at the top of the standings. If T1 wins, TNC Predator will need to play a tiebreaker match against them to determine who advances to the Playoffs. If OB.Neon emerges victoriously, T1, Execration, Fnatic, and OB.Neon will be locked in a four-way tie, as all teams will have finished with 4-3 records.

Catch OB.Neon face T1 on May 20 at 6:00 p.m. GMT+8. Watch the final match of the DPC 2021 Season 2 Southeast Asia Upper Division on PGL’s official Twitch or YouTube channels.
