The ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League turned out to be the biggest and most exciting Dota 2 league tournament to date. And Geek Fam made a strong case as to why they should be considered the best Dota 2 team in the region after they defeated Fnatic in the Grand Final.
The ONE Esports SEA League also showcased unbelievable plays that had Dota 2 fans at the edge of their seats.
Here’s our picks for the 10 best moments from the tournament:
10. DJ saves 23savage’s Morphling with a counter Song of the Siren – Grand Final
Marc Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto Naga Siren started the team fight with a Song of the Siren ultimate that isolated Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon’s Morphling completely. But, thanks to Djardel “DJ” Mampusti’s quick reactions, he was able to steal the Naga Siren ultimate for himself and save his hard carry with a counter Song of the Siren ultimate.
9. Gabbi’s clutch BKB activation – Group Stage
Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte was able to avoid Ng “YamateH” Wei Poong’s blink-in Echo Slam with a perfectly timed Black King Bar activation that earned TNC Predator the Game 2 victory over NEW Esports.
8. Karl saves himself with two perfectly placed Shackleshots – Group Stage
Karl “Karl” Jayme displayed his Windranger expertise by surviving a gank from Team Adroit with two excellently-placed Shackleshots that turned the fight around for Geek Fam.
7. 23savage’s illusion-play baits Geek Fam – Grand Final
With 23savage’s Phantom Lancer on the verge of death, he was able to dodge a killing blow with his Manta Style and Essence Ring activation. With Geek Fam being overextended, Fnatic was able to secure three important kills.
6. DJ uses a stolen Song of the Siren to stop TNC’s setup – Group Stage
Djardel “DJ” Mampusti’s Rubick put a stop to TNC Predator’s Song of the Siren initiation play into an Ice Path and Macropyre combo with his own stolen Song of the Siren. With TNC forced to retreat, Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong caught them with a three-man Dream Coil that decimated the Radiant squad.
5. Tims’ Echo Slam demolishes Team Adroit – Group Stage
Gabbi’s Ursa was separated from his team, and was about to be taken down by Team Adroit. But Timothy “Tims” Randrup waited for just the right moment before dropping his Echo Slam right on top of Adroit to help TNC secure the teamwipe.

What should have been the perfect Echo Slam highlight for DJ, ultimately became an Ultra Kill streak for Raven. This was also the tournament’s deciding team fight which put an end to Fnatic’s tournament run.
3. 23savage survives with clutch backpack micro – Group Stage
Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon’s mastery of Morphling was on full display against Adroit. Just as he was about to go down, he shifted his stats into Strength and swapped out his Wraith Band with a Faerie Fire in the Dire Secret Shop to get just enough HP to survive, and Waveform into safety.
2. iceiceice’s Timbersaw styles on NEW Esports – Group Stage
Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang found NEW Esports’ gank attempt very amusing as he tanked all the damage from the Dire team. After surviving the enemy team’s attacks, he and the rest of Fnatic collapsed on NEW Esports, and won another lopsided team fight.
1. DJ saves 23savage with a stolen Sunder – Upper Bracket Semifinal
DJ found a way to save his team once again by keeping 23savage’s Phantom Lancer alive with a stolen Sunder ultimate. Andrei “skem” Ong’s Terrorblade quickly lost a lot of health, which prompted him to use his Sunder ultimate on 23savage that put Fnatic’s hard carry in a dicey situation.
But, thanks to DJ’s quick thinking, he instantly stole skem’s Sunder ultimate and used it on 23savage to get the Phantom Lancer back to full health. This forced Neon Esports to retreat back into their Dire base.
