Two Chinese Dota 2 organizations, Vici Gaming and Invictus Gaming, faced off on the first day of the Playoffs at the Dream League Season 13: The Leipzig Major.

After being outclassed by iG in game two, VG decided to go with a robust lineup with Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang’s Huskar as the centerpiece. iG managed to keep up with VG during the laning stage but they eventually lost crucial team fights that gave VG a significant gold lead.

At the 31-minute mark of the game, VG claimed their first set of Barracks because of some long-ranged stolen Fissures from Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan. Each time iG would try to contest, Ori would prevent them from advancing by jumping into them with his Life Break ultimate. iG did do some damage to Ori, but Zhou “Yang” Haiyang’s Abaddon would constantly cast Mist Coil and Aphotic Shield on the Huskar to heal and protect him.

With VG’s gold lead increased to 22,000, they sieged the middle lane where Ori’s Huskar tanked everything iG could possibly throw at them and finished the game.

By winning the series 2-1, Vici Gaming advanced to the Upper Bracket quarterfinals where they’re set to face Evil Geniuses. This will be a rematch between the two teams after their Grand Finals match during the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore Invitational, where VG swept EG 3-0.

Meanwhile, Invictus Gaming has been dropped to the Lower Bracket where they await the winner of Team Aster versus Chaos Esports Club.
