In Fortnite, while you need to play every match yourself, you also have the option to spectate and watch your friends or even enemies play.
This can help you see how certain players play or learn new tricks and combos from them.
In this ONE Esports guide, we’ll let you know how to spectate in Fortnite and what you can do during it.
How to spectate in Fortnite
Here are two methods that you can follow to spectate a friend or an enemy in Fortnite.
Wait until you’re eliminated
The easiest way to spectate in Fortnite is by getting eliminated. Yes, if you just want to sit back and watch your friend play, you’ll need to get yourself killed.
After you’re eliminated in Fortnite, you’ll automatically start spectating your teammate. If you have multiple teammates, you can switch between them. Just let your friends know in advance not to revive you using the Reboot Card if you prefer to keep spectating.
In solo matches, after you’re eliminated, you’ll automatically spectate the player who defeated you.
If you get eliminated while playing with friends, you can use the spectating feature to help them. You can spot enemies or important items and tell your friends about them.
You can also pin locations on the map while spectating. This can be helpful when your teammates don’t have time to open the map and mark a spot themselves.
Use the Watch Game option
For this method, you need to wait until your friend has entered a match. Then, right-click on your friend’s name and select ‘Join Party.’
Once done, wait for 30 seconds, right-click on your friend’s name again, and click on ‘Watch Game.’ You will then start spectating your friend.
However, do keep in mind that if you spectate using this option, you won’t be able to mark a location on the map or use the in-game voice chat feature.
This was everything you needed to know about how to spectate in Fortnite.
