The most popular Fortnite player in the world, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, and a number of well known competitive Fortnite pros, including Turner “Tfue” Tenney, are pleading with Epic Games to address the aim assist feature for controller players who play on PC.
Fortnite PC players who use a mouse and keyboard have often criticized console players who use a controller, for having an accuracy advantage when it comes to aim assist. In the past, PC players had the advantage in build fights. But with more players switching to controller while playing on PC, some pros are convinced the game isn’t balanced anymore.
The mouse and keyboard versus controller debate was reignited with the results of the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) International Week 2 event. The tournament was dominated by controller players in the North American East server. Ninja, along with other pro Fortnite players, shared his thoughts on the matter.
“It’s going to be up to credible, top competitive controller players who have a huge influence to reach out to Epic and be vocal and honest about [aim assist] if we all want it to be more balanced,” said Ninja. “If we get more people speaking about it, I think we can actually get a nerf or a change and make it more balanced and healthy.”
Turner “Tfue” Tenney added that the aim assist feature for controllers has ruined the game for mouse and keyboard players.
Long time pro Fortnite player, Aydan “Aydan” Conrad agreed with Ninja by saying “controller on PC is just too strong right now.”
Epic Games was in a similar situation during Season 8 of Fortnite when players wanted to remove the X-4 Stormwing planes in competitive play. Epic was reluctant to remove the vehicle because they believe it helped balance the game for newer players.
With Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3’s release nearing, pro players are hoping to see balance changes for controller players on PC and aim assist.
