Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The latest instalment in the Assassin’s Creed series takes the game to 16th-century feudal Japan. While Shadows also focuses on the millennia-long struggle between Assassins and Templars, Ubisoft’s latest entry lets you play as both the vengeful shinobi Naoe and the samurai Yasuke, thereby offering more ways to approach each mission.
Avowed
Expanding on the Pillars of Eternity mythos, Obsidian Entertainment’s first-person action adventure RPG ‘Avowed’ takes players to the Living Lands, where they explore the island’s vast wilderness wielding might and magic to put a stop to a mysterious plague – and the end of the realm.
DOOM: The Dark Ages
It’s been a great year for origin stories, and Bethesda’s berserker is getting the same bloody treatment in ‘DOOM: The Dark Ages’, which will uncover “the epic cinematic origin story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage” to the tune of skull-grinding scrapguns and demon-killer mechas.
Dune Awakening
Fans of the Dune universe will finally get the open-world survival builder they deserve with Dune Awakening, an ambitious indie that pits players in faction wars across the spice-filled sands of Arrakis.
Fable
The legendary franchise reinvented; Fable brings us back to the fantastical world of Albion in the stirrups of an aspiring adventurer who helps (retired) legendary hero Humphry stop his old protégé. The new entry’s trailer – which lacks a solid release date – implies decision-making mechanics seen in other beloved RPGs, and promises the sword-and-sorcery feel we’ve all come to love.
Ghosts of Yotei
The exciting follow-up to Sony and Sucker Punch’s ‘Ghosts of Tsushima’ takes place 329 years after its predecessor, following the exploits of female warrior Atsu who takes on the mantle of ‘Ghost’. The PS5 exclusive was inspired by the romance and beauty of feudal Japan, and player choices will hold more weight in the narrative, said developers.
Grand Theft Auto VI
Arguably the most anticipated title of the year, GTA VI will use the series’ signature satirical bite on modern-day American culture and social media to craft yet another unforgettable, crime-filled tale 12 years in the making.
Kingdom Come Deliverance II
This iconic medieval adventure sim is one of the best games in 2025 and follows the thrilling tale of the 15th-century knight Henry, who embarks on a quest to avenge his murdered parents; an ordeal that tests his ideals at every turn as conspiracies and blood feuds “ultimately shape his destiny.”
Mafia: The Old Country
Mafia: The Old Country takes fans all the way back to 1900s Sicily, the cradle of organized crime, where a gritty action-adventure mob thriller unfolds between new recruit Enzo Favara, the corrupt institutions in power, and the very family he’s sworn to serve.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter is going open-world with massive biomes, new travel mechanics, powerful multiplayer options, and the most interactive monster fights in the series so far.
One Move Away
Following in the footsteps of Witch Beam’s “Unpacking”, One Move Away is part-Tetris, part-story as you load all your belongings into the back of your station wagon. In this cozy indie, you unpack the lives the characters leave behind.. and discover what lies ahead.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII
The next entry in Sid Meier’s deep-strategy behemoth empowers players even further with new city-building options, strong historical figures, and stunning vistas that elevate the Civilization experience.
Split Fiction
Hazelight Studio’s ambitious new title adds a couple more dimensions to the split-screen co-op action we’ve all come to miss. Promising both clever and engaging level design, expect ‘It Takes Two’’s successor to be worlds different once March rolls around.
The Outer Worlds 2
Discover new frontiers, empower your colonies, and put a stop to mysterious space rifts in The Outer Worlds 2, the starry follow-up to Obsidian’s award-winning sci-fi adventure game.
