Mark your calendars: the Brawl release date is near.

Brawl is League of Legends‘ newest game mode debuting in Season 2 where players are ushered into Ionia to celebrate the Spirit Blossom festival.

It is a quick 5v5 game mode that lasts 10 minutes per match taking place within a small map, similar to ARAM. To win, players need to push minions into the enemy’s base and rack up kills.

Brawl is a low-strategy, high-action mode that lets you pick your favorite champion. Players won’t need to think about objectives or towers — the focus is purely on kills and clearing minions.

There’s only one lane, with two camps flanking it at the top and bottom of the map. These camps offer a buff and gold, but also enable more diverse champions and playstyles, leading to more dynamic fights.

Each team begins with 250 health. The first team to reduce their opponent’s health to 0 is victorious.

  • Takedowns on enemy champions deals 5 damage to the enemy team
  • While the enemy team is not at low health, takedowns on enemy minions also deal 1 damage.
  • Pushing your minions into your opponent’s Bandle portal deals 1 damage each

Note that there are no towers in front of portals. They’re open, so all you need to do is escort your minions into your enemy’s Bandle portal to deal damage.

Understanding Summoner’s Rift demands knowledge of game mechanics, the mechanical skill to use them, and strategic thinking before its depth becomes clear. This complexity is what keeps League of Legends engaging even after many hours of play.

However, it doesn’t appeal to everyone. Even those who play tons of rank take a break from it. While ARAM offers this for some, its random champion selection doesn’t help players who want to practice specific champions.

New players might want a less stressful way to enjoy League — that’s where Brawl comes in. Similar to Team Deathmatch in FPS titles, this mode lets you practice your skills and enjoy the basic game without needing to coordinate heavily or be the top player. It is a mode for players of all skill levels.

“It isn’t easy for one team to simply snowball to victory. If, for whatever unfathomable
reason, your team is getting absolutely smashed, you’ll get a comeback buff to make sure you
have a way back into the game, increasing your damage dealt and decreasing damage taken,” Riot Games wrote in their dev blog.

“The better team should still come out victorious, but falling behind isn’t nearly as fatal as it may be in other modes.”
