Season 1 of The War Within World of Warcraft expansion is finally here. Now it’s time to figure out which classes pump the best DPS in The War Within Season 1 so you can top the charts.
The War Within World of Warcraft Season 1 DPS guide
Below we cover the best DPS classes to play right now, but it’s always worth remembering that buffs, nerfs, tier sets, skillset, and more can impact their performance.
Best DPS in The War Within Season 1 — rankings and tier list
The War Within DPS rankings we’re making are based on a combination of both Mythic+ and Raid. This means that the S-tier is made up of characters that are incredible in both. A-tier may be amazing in one and good in the other while B-tier would be decent in both or amazing in one and bad in the other, etc.
Simpler explanation of the rankings:
- S: Absolutely insane.
- A: Very, very good.
- B: Good choices.
- C: Could be better.
- D: Really needs a buff.
The War Within class rankings
TIER | CLASSES |
S | Augmentation Evoker Frost Death Knight Elemental Shaman Arcane Mage (If they fix Burden of Power) |
A | Frost Mage Assassination Rogue Shadow Priest Affliction Warlock Fury Warrior Havoc Demon Hunter Enhancement Shaman Retribution Paladin |
B | Outlaw Rogue Demonology Warlock Unholy Deathknight Windwalker Monk Subtlety Rogue Arms Warrior Survival Hunter |
C | Marksmanship Hunter Balance Druid Devastation Evoker Beast Mastery Hunter Destruction Warlock Fire Mage Feral Druid |
You should know, however, that I’ve seen some classes in the C-tier put up some amazing numbers and parse above 90%. A good player is more important than a good class in a majority of situations so don’t stress it if your favorite class isn’t S-tier right now.
Augmentation has basically been god tier since it released during Dragonflight. Its ability to power up allies and provide bigger DPS in addition to survivability makes it valuable in basically every form of content.
The Frost Death Knight has been outstanding over the past few updates, and its dominance has not stopped with the launch of The War Within Season 1. Death Knights are basically good across the board and will be viable in all content at the moment.
Elemental Shaman has performed well throughout much of Dragonflight, but this may be the best time to play the class if you’ve had the itch. Shaman is pumping DPS and can also bring party buffs and a battle rez which is always welcome
Arcane Mage has been amazing thus far in The War Within and it even had some changes that made it less daunting of a class to play with the launch of the expansion. That being said, it’s unfortunately got a pretty massive bug at the moment.
The Burden of Power ability is simply not working and given it supplies big 20% buffs to some of your best regular use damage spells, that’s a huge nerf until it’s fixed. We’re leaving it in S-tier for now assuming they’ll fix the issue.
As we move out of the S tier, there are plenty of strong options available. Ultimately, it will come down to what fits your playstyle or feels the most enjoyable to you. One to note in the A-tier is Fury Warrior which has put up amazing numbers in the first parses from the Race to World First.
As stated earlier, regardless of the rankings, basically every class can get through all content the game has to offer so don’t stress it too much.
