It is important to keep in mind that Black Bear Guai is actually the second form of Black Wind King, a boss that you may have defeated previously.

How to prepare for the Black Bear Guai fight in Black Myth Wukong

His previous form was using a Spear. But this time, he will use his massive size against you. He is one of the toughest bosses you’ll encounter in Chapter 1, so make sure you’re not fooling around.

Before starting a fight with him, make sure you’ve upgraded your attack and defence stats. For this, we recommend using the Agate Jar, which you got after defeating his previous form.

This Agate Jar will increase your defence stats and allow you to stay alive longer in combat. On top of that, you can use Fireproof Mantle to protect your character against fire and lava.

Since you’re fighting the Black Bear, chances are that you’ve already defeated the Guangmou boss. If you have, then make sure you have his Spirit equipped.

First phase

After you enter the arena to fight the Black Bear Guai, he won’t start attacking immediately. Instead, he will send out a big roar before getting down on all fours to show his might.

Now, you need to use this time to land as many attacks as you can on him. We recommend activating your Spirit as soon as you’ve entered the Arena to land a powerful attack. On top of that, make sure to perform a series of quick attacks to deplete as much health as you can.

Once done, Black Bear Guai will teleport to a spot and then return to perform a powerful swipe attack. Dodge this as quickly as possible, as a hit from this attack can empty around 30% of your health bar, which will leave you in a tight spot at the start of the fight.

Throughout the first phase, Black Bear Guai will continuously use melee attacks using his paws. However, he’s extremely quick with them, so you’ll need to always keep a finger on the dodge button.

He will mostly attack you three times in a row, after which you’ll be able to land a few hits on him – if you’ve managed to dodge his attack.

Make sure you’re not using any heavy attacks, as they are too slow, and Black Bear Guai can launch a counter-attack quickly. So, just perform a series of quick attacks, back off, dodge his attacks, and attack again.

Second phase

If you manage to successfully pull this off, you will be able to deplete half of his health. The real fight starts when this happens, as Black Bear Guai will transform into his second form.

While his health bar will still be half empty, he will be much more powerful than before.

During this phase, Black Bear Guai can transform into a fire orb and launch himself toward you. However, whenever he uses his cloud form, you must use the Immobilize skill on him.

This will break his form and transform him back into a giant bear. However, this will also stagger him for a moment, and you’ll have the opportunity to land some powerful blows on him.

Black Bear Guai’s paws will also be covered in flames during the second phase, so his attacks will be able to deal fire damage. On top of that, he will be able to set the ground on fire.

If you do end up getting caught on fire, just dodge around five times to put the fire out. And remember we asked you to get the Fireproof Mantle for this fight? Well, it’s time to activate it now to protect yourself from fire damage.

Black Bear Guai will also now use jump attacks that can deal a lot of damage. So, whenever you see him in the air, quickly get at a safe distance.

Throughout the second phase, your main strategy should be to keep a safe distance from him, use the Immobilize spell whenever it is available, and use this opportunity to land some attacks on him.

If you keep this up and heal from a safe distance whenever your health is low, you’ll be able to defeat the Black Bear Guai in Black Myth: Wukong in no time.
