Selection for the program involved a comprehensive review of nearly 200 applications. Evaluation criteria included performance in the 2024 Club Championship, potential across various game titles, social media impact, fan interaction, and strategies for global audience activation.

Eight clubs received direct invitations based on their 2024 EWC Club Championship rankings, while the remaining slots were filled through open applications. The 2025 program features 19 new participants and 21 returning clubs from the previous year.

Tencent played a key role in the Chinese application process for the 2025 Club Program, supporting 20 applicants. Six clubs—All Gamers, Bilibili Gaming, Edward Gaming, JD Gaming, Weibo Gaming, and Wolves Esports—were ultimately chosen, representing leading Chinese teams with a combined audience exceeding 125 million.

Participation in the EWCF Club Partner Program requires annual renewal, aligning with the evolving esports landscape. Program membership does not automatically grant clubs entry into the Esports World Cup 2025, which takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in summer. All clubs must qualify through established pathways to compete in individual game tournaments at the EWC.
