Valve’s MOBA-shooter hybrid Deadlock features a unique objective called “Mid-Boss” that grants game-winning buffs for your entire squad.
Deadlock is a 6v6 hero shooter game where two teams compete to take out the other’s Patron. Here, players gather currency (Souls) throughout the game, take important objectives and forge a path to the enemy base. But the biggest beast of them all rewards players differently.
Learn when to take the biggest mob in the game with our complete Deadlock Mid-Boss guide.
When does the Mid-Boss spawn?
The Mid-Boss enters the game at the 10-minute mark. It spawns in the middle of the map and appears as a large, green one-eyed monster. Note that you’ll need to drop down into its pit to deal any damage to it.
Once defeated, the Mid-Boss respawns after seven minutes.
Deadlock Mid-Boss buffs
When your team kills the Mid-Boss, a green glowing “Rejuvenator” crystal appears from above. Being the first to perform a heavy attack on the crystal grants enormous buffs to your team for three minutes.
The Mid-Boss buffs include:
- +50% quicker respawn time (one-time use)
- +50% HP for creeps/”Troopers”
- +27% fire rate
Deadlock Mid-Boss tips
When it goes under 50% HP, the Mid-Boss roars and can be heard across the entire map, making it a prime target for enemy assassins.
The Mid-Boss sits in a large building with multiple entry points, so watch out for nearby enemies who might steal the buff.
If you like playing disruptive supports like Bebop or Ivy, buy items like Headshot Booster and Swift Striker to complement the extra fire rate buff.
Also consider Return Fire, Suppressor (with a Spirit Power hero) and Withering Whip when the enemy gets the objective before you do.
Deadlock Mid-Boss buffs can turn the tide when you’re on the losing side, and seal a Patron’s fate. Despite the playtest being in beta, the game plays pretty well. So expect tons of changes as Deadlock develops.
