Valve’s shooter-MOBA cross is officially getting a ranked mode, but players must jump through some extra hoops to play it. Here’s how Deadlock ranked mode works.
On August 24, Valve finally acknowledged Deadlock, allowing players to share their beta access with friends.
The game remains in testing, with casual mode always available, while competitive queues operate during specific hours in each region. However, previously playing in these competitive queues didn’t guarantee a rank—until now.
The developer has finally confirmed that ranked mode is coming to Deadlock, but certain conditions must be met to play it.
When is the Deadlock ranked mode release date?
The ranked queue will first open this coming Tuesday, October 15, at 8 pm GMT.
Currently, Deadlock’s ranked mode doesn’t support team match-ups, so players are on their own. Starting October 15, the competitive queues will be open daily from 1 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 10 pm, based on your selected time zone. Each region offers multiple time zones, allowing you to choose one that best fits your schedule.
However, once you’ve locked in a time zone, you won’t be able to change it for at least a week. It’s unknown whether you can play ranked mode in different regions, but it may be a possibility since Deadlock’s cousin game, Counter-Strike 2, isn’t region-locked. But Valve may shake things up for Deadlock. Only time will tell.
How to play Deadlock ranked mode
On October 15, a new ranked mode card will appear in the menu, outlining the eligibility requirements. To participate, players must have completed at least 50 Deadlock matches beforehand.
Whether you won those or not doesn’t matter. As long as there’s a record of 50 games on your account, you’ll be able to enter ranked mode. Those with any behavior-related restrictions (voice/text bans, report misuse, etc.) will be unable to get into this mode.
Valve hasn’t yet revealed the ranks lineup, but according to patch notes, there will be 11 ranks, known as medals. Each medal will have six divisions, and players will need a certain amount of rating to climb to the next level.
Unlike random rank upgrades, players will have to wait a week to see how they have progressed. Every Tuesday at 8 pm GMT, Valve will grant a new level or rank based on last week’s performance.
