Officially titled “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” the game releases on June 26, 2025 on PlayStation 5. Pre-orders start on March 17 at 10 a.m. local time.
A special trailer, directed by Hideo Kojima, was unveiled to celebrate the announcement at South by Southwest (SXSW) today.

What is Death Stranding?
Death Stranding, released on 8 November 2019, is a unique action game developed by Kojima Productions, spearheaded by Hideo Kojima. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic United States, devastated by a mysterious event called the “Death Stranding.”
This event has blurred the lines between the world of the living and the dead, resulting in the appearance of dangerous, otherworldly creatures.
The player takes on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, portrayed by Norman Reedus. His primary objective is to reconnect isolated communities across the fractured nation to a communication network known as the “Chiral Network.”
This involves undertaking perilous delivery missions, traversing a vast and often treacherous landscape. The gameplay focuses heavily on exploration and the challenges of carrying heavy cargo, requiring players to carefully plan their routes and manage their resources.
