Destiny 2 Codename Apollo is the next major expansion coming to the game after The Final Shape. It will kick off a new multiyear saga for Destiny 2 and feature a non-linear campaign.
Destiny 2 Apollo seems unique from past Destiny expansions, and if you’re excited to know more about it, you’re in the right place.
Destiny 2 Codename Apollo details
This ONE Esports guide reveals the Destiny 2 Apollo release date, alongside details on what to expect from this next major game update.
When is the Destiny 2 Apollo release date?
Destiny 2 Apollo will be released in the summer of 2025. Sadly, Bungie has not confirmed a concrete release date right now. That said, if past Destiny expansion release dates are anything to go by, you could expect Apollo to drop sometime between February and June.
The Witch Queen and Lightfall expansions had launched in February. The Final Shape was also scheduled to launch in February but was delayed to June. Apollo could also be released in that period, but don’t take our word on that.
What to expect from Destiny 2 Apollo content?
As mentioned previously, Destiny 2 Apollo features a non-linear campaign. According to Bungie, “It’s a non-linear character-driven adventure.”
It means you will have multiple ways to experience the new campaign’s story, similar to how it’s in many modern AAA open world games. It seems like Apollo will emphasize exploration and discovery and allow you to experience the story on your own terms.
Irrespective of how you choose to play Apollo’s non-linear campaign, Bungie has confirmed that its story will make sense and flow from beginning to middle to end.
Like the Light and Darkness saga, Apollo is based on a core theme and will introduce new characters and factions. In short, it’s a soft reboot that should make Destiny more accessible to newcomers.
