Destiny 2 Episode Echoes Act 3 has brought a new rapid-frame machine gun named Speleologist. It can roll with a few interesting perk combinations which make it a decent option, especially for PvE content.

Speleologist is also the first craftable solar machine gun in Destiny 2, so if you’re looking to assemble the best version of it, you’re in the right place. This ONE Esports guide explains the Speleologist god roll in Destiny 2 for PvE and PvP activities.

PERK TYPEPERK NAME & DESCRIPTION
Barrel Arrowhead Brake: +30 Recoil Direction, +10 Handling
MagazineAppended Mag: +14 Magazine
Trait 1Envious Assassin: Defeating targets with other weapons before drawing this one transfers ammo to the magazine from reserves. This effect can overflow the magazine based on the number of targets defeated.
Trait 2Killing Tally: Kills increase this weapon’s damage until it is stowed or reloaded.
Or,
One for All: Hitting three separate targets increases damage for a moderate duration.
MasterworkStability
Origin TraitRadiolaria Transposer: Rapid final blows cause targets to explode into a pool of radiolarian fluid.

Rapid-frame machine guns require better stability, and Speleogist is no different. This weapon tends to drift rightwards upon use. Hence, it’s best to use Arrowhead Brake for Barrel to increase its overall stability.

Speleologist’s base mag size is 72, and you would want this to be higher to effectively take down bosses and more challenging enemies in the game. As such, we recommend Appended Mag to increase its magazine.

For the third column perk, Envious Assassin is a great option. It can greatly increase this weapon’s magazine, and we can’t recommend this enough. We usually use The Call to clear ads and then swap to Spelelogist to proc Envious Assassin and take out elite enemies.

For the fourth column perk, Killing Tally and One for All are great picks. Killing Tally can boost weapon damage from kills until stowed or reloaded.

On the other hand, One for All can boost weapon damage when you hit three separate targets. Both these perks function similarly, and you can go with either.

For Masterwork,  Stability is always the best option for any rapid-frame machine gun.

PERK TYPEPERK NAME & DESCRIPTION
Barrel Arrowhead Brake: +30 Recoil Direction, +10 Handling
MagazineAccurized Rounds: +10 Range
Trait 1Slideways: Sliding partially reloads this weapon’s magazine and temporarily boosts handling and stability.
Trait 2Target Lock: Damage increases the longer this weapon remains on a target.
MasterworkRange
Origin TraitRadiolaria Transposer: Rapid final blows cause targets to explode into a pool of radiolarian fluid.

Speleogist isn’t the best weapon for PvP, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bring it to snag some kills.

For Barrel, Arrowhead Brake is still the best option for increasing stability.

For Magazine, we recommend Accurized Rounds for that extra Range as it’s more useful than increased mag in PvP.

For the third column perk, we recommend Slideways. As the name suggests, sliding can reload the weapon and increase its handling and stability. Since you will probably be sliding a lot, there’s no harm in making the most of it.

For the fourth column perk, Target Lock is the best option instead of  Incandescent or Killing Tally. With this, your weapon damage boost will increase the longer you target an enemy.

Lastly, for Masterwork, Range is the best option, as it can increase your chances of hitting other players.
