There’s nothing worse than trying to load up Diablo 4 to begin or continue your grind, only to get hit with an error code.
One in particular, error code 30008, comes alongside the “your login attempt has timed out” message. This, unfortunately, stops you from loading into the game and leaves you sitting on character selection.

Diablo 4 error preventing some players from joining in the fun
Blizzard has stated via a tweet that they are aware of “an issue affecting our authentification servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts.”
In terms of how to solve this error, it’s mostly on the game server end. Too many players trying to login at once may be bogging down the servers, and causing them to lock up or limit how many people can access them at a time.
Typically there’s a multi-step process that involves logging in via battle net, then opening the game, then authentification, and then playing. This hiccup is happening in the third part of that trend.
Things you can try to get through this are limited, but may be worth a shot.
- Just try again, you may be able to slip through
- Close and relaunch the game
- Make sure your game is up-to-date
- Check the BlizzardCS Twitter account or Diablo 4 support page for server issues
If the issues remain, you may just have to wait it out until Blizzard either finds a fix or fewer players are trying to log in to the game.
