In Farming Simulator 25, players can now dive into the intricate process of rice farming. This version introduces regular rice and long grain rice.
This allows players to cultivate flooded fields with specialized equipment and manage growth stages carefully to maximize yield with detailed crop management requirements, from controlled flooding to timely fertilization.
In this ONE Esports guide, we’ll walk you through the essential steps on how to grow rice and long grain rice in Farming Simulator 25.
With these strategies, you’ll be able to maximize your yields and master the art of rice farming.
How to get started growing rice
Building the rice fields
To plant both rice and long grain rice, you’ll need specialized plots known as rice fields. While some plots on the Hutan Pantai map already contain rice fields, you can also create one from scratch.
In build mode, go to factories, select cultivation, and choose “rice field.” Customize the field size to suit your budget, bearing in mind that larger fields incur higher costs.
Start your placement where you’d like the water pump for easy access later, and then proceed with field preparation.
How to grow long grain rice
Long grain rice can be cultivated without specialized equipment, making it a versatile choice for starter farms.
This type of rice can be planted on dry rice fields before flooding and has a slightly longer growth phase than the wet planted rice.
Preparing the long grain rice field
As a standard part of field preparation, begin by plowing the rice fields using a plow or a cultivator. It is important to note that long grain rice should be planted in dry rice fields.
A newly built rice field won’t need plowing, but reused fields might. Use the soil composition map to determine if plowing is necessary.
Once the field is plowed, fill the seeder with long grain rice seeds. To maximize efficiency, opt for a seeder that can simultaneously apply fertilizer, allowing you to seed and fertilize in one go, saving time and enhancing crop yield.
Long grain rice maintenance
When growing long grain rice, it is essential to wait a day after seeding until the first green sprouts appear before flooding the rice field. Flooding too early may prevent some plants from germinating, causing gaps in the rice field and reducing overall yield.
Flood the field for about two months to support early growth. Midway through the growth process, it’s crucial to apply fertilizer to boost yield. After this period, dry out the field for the third growth stage.
Harvesting the long grain rice
After the third growth stage, the long grain rice has fully matured, it will have a distinct brownish color to its pellets, indicating that it’s ready for harvest. At this stage, you can use any available harvester to collect the long grain rice.
The harvested crop can then be sold for profit or stored in a silo for later use. Harvesting at the right time ensures the best yield and preserves the quality of the crop.
If you plan to replant rice in the same field, it’s important to add lime to the soil. This helps maintain soil health and ensures optimal growing conditions for your next rice crop.
How to grow rice
To grow rice in Farming Simulator 25, you’ll need specialized equipment tailored for rice fields, starting with the Iseki tools. Unlike standard farming equipment, these are designed for planting and harvesting rice. Begin by purchasing the Iseki equipment from the truck store.
For this you’ll need:
- Iseki TJW
- Iseki HJ6130
- Iseki PRJ8D
- Rice Sapling Pallet
- Solid Fertilizer
Additionally, ensure you have a flooded rice field, as this is crucial for growing this particular variety of rice.
Preparing the rice field and the rice planter
To begin planting rice in your rice field, start by flooding it. Activate the water pump positioned nearby to fill the field, ensuring it’s completely submerged before you start planting.
Next, load the planter with a pallet of rice saplings and dry fertilizer to prepare for planting. Make sure you’re planting within the flooded area, as the planter will not work in dry rice fields.
Rice maintainence
When growing rice, it’s essential to keep the field flooded for the first two months after planting to support early growth. prolonged flooding can harm the plants.
If the water remains in the field for too long, a number of rice plants will die. To further boost yield, apply fertilizer midway through the growth period.
Harvesting the rice
After this period, dry out the field for the third growth stage. Once the rice reaches maturity, the grains will have distinct golden pellets, indicating they are ready for harvest.
Use the Iseki HJ6130 rice harvester to collect the crop. The yield can then be sold for profit or stored in a silo for future use.
After harvesting, apply lime to your rice field before replanting to maintain soil health. Use the field information interface after every harvest to check if lime is required.
Rice greenhouse
The greenhouse in Farming Simulator 25 serves as a controlled environment for growing your own rice seedlings.
While buying seedlings from a dealer is an alternative, cultivating your own seedlings offers long-term cost savings, making it a more sustainable choice for large-scale rice production.
Setting up and maintaining the rice greenhouse
To build a greenhouse for growing rice seedlings, open the construction build menu and navigate to the production section. Scroll through the greenhouse options and place one in a location that is convenient for your farm layout.
It’s essential to ensure a nearby water source, as greenhouses require water to function properly.
Go to the storage menu, scroll through the container options, and place a water tank near the greenhouse.
To transport water to your greenhouse, head to the equipment store and purchase a barrel attachment for your tractor. This attachment allows you to efficiently move water from a nearby source to your greenhouse.
Once equipped, you can easily fill the barrel and use the tractor to deliver water directly to the greenhouse. This setup will help maintain a steady supply of rice seedlings for your fields.
Once your greenhouse is set up, it will begin yielding rice seedlings each day after you sleep. This consistent production ensures you always have new seedlings ready for planting.
Once the rice is in season, simply load the rice saplings into the Iseki PRJ8D planter and start planting in your rice fields to maintain a continuous cycle of growth and maximize your yield.
