Diablo 4’s first major expansion, Vessel of Hatred, is set to launch on October 8, 2024. It will add the new Spiritborn class, co-op endgame activity Dark Citadel, and plenty of quality-of-life features.
Vessel of Hatred will continue Diablo 4’s story as you pursue Neyrelle and the Prime Evil Mephisto in the dense and humid forests of Nahantu.
If you haven’t beaten the game’s campaign yet, we highly recommend doing so, as otherwise, you won’t be able to play the new expansion.
Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred on Xbox Game Pass guide
Thankfully, if you’re on PC or Xbox, Diablo 4 is readily available via Xbox Game Pass. But can you play Vessel of Hatred on Xbox Game Pass?
Is Vessel of Hatred on Game Pass?
Unfortunately, Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred won’t be coming to Xbox Game Pass, at least on launch. Xbox and Blizzard have not made any announcements regarding it so far, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
You can, at least, get a $4 discount when purchasing Vessel of Hatred on the Xbox store if you own Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
In case you didn’t know, Vessel of Hatred’s standard edition costs $39.99, whereas its deluxe and ultimate edition costs $59.99 and $89.99, respectively.
You could also buy the Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred expansion bundle for $69.99, which includes the base game and the new expansion.
The decision not to add Vessel of Hatred on Game Pass seems strange, especially since it’s now technically a first-party Xbox title.
What’s even more strange is that Xbox isn’t opposed to the idea of bringing new game DLC and expansions directly to Game Pass.
For instance, Persona 3 Reload’s $35 expansion pass recently launched directly on Game Pass.
Either way, if you don’t want to cough up at least $40 for Vessel of Hatred and the Spiritborn class, you will have to wait a while until you can play it via Game Pass, if at all.
