Can you play Dragons Dogma 2 co-op? DD2 multiplayer questions answered
No, you can’t play Dragons Dogma 2 in co-op. There’s no option to party up with players online or offline. The original Dragons Dogma didn’t have multiplayer co-op either, and Capcom seems reluctant to change that for its sequel.
That said, in Dragons Dogma 2, you won’t have to adventure alone through the vast and vibrant lands of Vermund and Battahl. You can have up to three pawns in your party.
For those unaware, pawns are AI companions that you can create or borrow from other players online. This is where the game’s asynchronous multiplayer aspect kicks in.
Your main pawn is fully customizable, and you can change their appearance, behavior, equipment, and vocation. Other players may borrow your pawn. Likewise, there’s an option for you to borrow other players’ pawns and add them to your party.
In Dragons Dogma 2, pawns are more than just mercenaries for hire. They can help with the regular shenanigans, such as revealing the enemy’s weakness, applying buffs, or healing your character. Most importantly, pawns carry the knowledge of their Arisen’s world.
For instance, if you’re exploring a particular area in the game, and you have borrowed someone’s pawn who has already explored that part, that pawn may serve as your guide, shouting hints like quest locations, POIs in the vicinity, and more.
While borrowing other players’ AI pawn companions is a great way to interact with the online community, it isn’t comparable to an experience you may have had playing Dragons Dogma 2 co-op with other players in DD2 multiplayer.
