The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC story trailer has landed, showing off The Land of Shadows in full CGI visuals, blending part-gore with picturesque scenery.
In February, Bandai Entertainment and FromSoftware shared a glimpse into Elden Ring’s upcoming DLC.
From cut-throat bosses to new mechanics, the short trailer was everything fans had expected from the developer. Now, taking things to the next level, FromSoftware has shared tidbits from The Elden Ring DLC story.
The Elden Ring DLC story explained
The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will transport Tarnished to a new land, a realm once ravaged and reduced to ashes by the fearsome Messmer the Impaler, who appears to be the central antagonist in the DLC.

Messmer is a demigod responsible for the “purge without grace,” which he started for Marika. It resulted in a mass genocide against the Land of Shadow, a place obscured by the Erdtree.
Miquella, who’s also at the center of the story, was apparently against the purge and ended up sacrificing himself in the very same place.
In the trailer, Miquella is portrayed as some sort of a hero, but it’s worth noting that he’s an older twin brother of Malenia, the most difficult boss in Elden Ring.
Tarnished will continue their journey in the aftermath of the genocide, in the land reduced to ashes by Messmer’s flame. The trailer ends with a supposed rebellion brimming among the people, who are now gathering to join Miquella’s forces and get rid of Messmer.
The short Elden Ring DLC story trailer is packed with emotion and has once again reignited the hype around Elden Ring.
So far, a few bosses have been revealed, including Miquella, Messmer, Queen Marika, and Blue Dancer. More details will be revealed as the release date for the DLC draws closer.
The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree release date is June 21, 2024, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
