One of the objectives for the ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is to obtain a fever tonic in KCD 2 for Captain Thomas before the time runs out and Hans is executed.

It’s a tricky, stressful moment in the quest, especially since you might have to avoid all the patrolling castle guards to reach the other end of the castle to get the fever tonic.

However, there are two ways to get this potion in this particular questline in KCD 2.

As such, in this guide, we explain the easiest way to get the fever tonic in KCD 2 before time runs out.

To get the fever tonic in KCD 2, you have to reach the surgeon’s workshop, where you can find the recipe to brew this potion. Strangely enough, you will also find Katherine here, the enigmatic woman you rescued at the pond and bumped into at Trosky.

There are two ways to reach the surgeon’s workshop in the Trosky Castle. You can either sneak in through the kitchen and cross the wooden bridge to reach the farthermost side of the castle.

Or you can convince the Chamberlain to allow you to brew a Digestive Potion for his stomach ache, for which he will give you access to the surgeon’s workshop.

Once you’re in the physician’s workshop, talk to Katherine. You can convince her to reveal the location of a chest that contains the fever tonic.

The chest is in the room next door, but it’s a hard lock to pick. We recommend not wasting your lockpicks on this and instead heading back to the physician’s workshop.

Once you are here, pick up the physician’s journal from the shelf, which will unlock the fever tonic recipe for you.

Now, pick the lock on the chest in this room. Since it’s an easy lock, you should be able to open it easily. You will find a plethora of crafting materials in this chest, including one Elderberry Leaf, two Ginger, and three Feverfew. It’s time to brew the fever tonic yourself.

However, before you do that, we recommend crafting a save potion, especially if you couldn’t convince the Chamberlain and had to sneak in like we did.

Thankfully, the chest also contains a decent amount of Belladonna and Nettle, so brewing a Saviour Schnapps wouldn’t be a problem.

Since you have everything to brew a fever tonic, you should be able to do that as well.
