Nearly two months after it opened up the Pro Draft, the F1 Esports Pro Series for this year is now underway. Featuring 12 races across four events, virtual racers will be competing for championship glory and their share of the US$750,000 prize pool.

The first round kicked off on October 14, 2020 with two races taking place on opposite ends of the world — the Bahrain International Circuit and the all-new Hanoi Street Circuit, right smack in the downtown of Vietnam’s capital. The second round for the opening event saw racers competing at the Shanghai International Circuit.

From over 237,000 racers fighting for a spot in the qualifiers, only the Top 45 managed to secure their seat at the starting line in Bahrain. All races will run on a customized F1 2020 with players racing from their own homes or at the team factories.

Leading the scoreboard after the first three races is Jarno Opmeer of Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports. He took the podium for all three races and now leads with 65 points. Red Bull Racing Esports’ Marcel Kiefer is in second place as he racked up 41 points. As for the Constructors title, Alfa Romeo is in the lead with 98 points, with Red Bull trailing at second with 69 points.

As for last year’s reigning champion, David Tonizza — representing Ferrari Driver Academy Hublot Esports for 2019 and 2020, only scored 25 points after taking the chequered flag at Hanoi. A technical fault saw him and teammate Enzo Bonito being disconnected at China’s race. This automatically placed them as 19th and 20th for that event.

The subsequent races are the upcoming three that will virtually run at the Dutch, Austrian, and Canadian Grand Prix tracks on November 4 to 5, 2020.
