All factions and faction abilities in XDefiant — is there an XDefiant best faction?
There are currently five factions in XDefiant inspired by various Ubisoft franchises:
Cleaners
The Cleaners are from The Division, specializing in using fire as their main tool. They are also experts in area denial. They are more suited to an offensive playstyle.
All Cleaners faction abilities
- The Purifier (Ultra): Ensure enemies are thoroughly sterilized
- Incinerator Drone (Activated Ability): A Napalm-delivering drone that burns everything in its flightpath before it explodes.
- Firebomb (Activated Ability): Detonates a Molotov cocktail and causes explosive damage while also igniting the area.
- Incendiary Rounds (Passive Trait): Incendiary ammo that inflicts extra burn damage at the cost of weapon range.
DedSec
The DedSec faction is from the Watch Dogs series, specifically the second game. They are more suited to a support role as they focus on backdoor exploits and denial-of-service attacks which can frustrate opponents.
All DedSec faction abilities
- Lockout (Ultra): Prevents enemies from using their abilities and Ultra within an area.
- Hijack (Activated Ability): Hacks enemy-deployed abilities and uses them as their own.
- Spiderbot (Activated Ability): Deploys a Spiderbot that stuns and targets the nearest enemy via a face hug.
- Fabricator (Passive Trait): After a device is deployed, the Fabricator prints another one.
Echelon
The Echelon is composed of NSA agents from the Splinter Cell series. They are great in the offense but particularly excel in stealth-based combat.
All Echelon faction abilities
- Sonar Goggles (Ultra): Reveals enemies and can hunt them down with Sam Fisher’s 5.7 pistol.
- Digital Ghillie Suit (Activated Ability): Makes the character almost invisible although movement and aiming can reduce it.
- Intel Suit (Activated Ability): Sonar waves that share enemy locations periodically.
- Low Profile (Passive Trait): The character doesn’t appear on the enemy mini-map.
Libertad
The Libertad are freedom fighters from the Far Cry series, specifically Far Cry 6. They are extremely good at providing healing support for your team.
All Libertad faction abilities
- Medico Supremo (Ultra): Deploys a Medico backpack for a large health and healing boost in a specific area.
- BioVida Boost (Activated Ability): A fortifying wave that boosts health regen for the whole team.
- El Remedio (Activated Ability): Throws a revitalizing gas canister that heals teammates until it’s destroyed or cancelled.
- Espiritu de Libertad (Passive Trait): A contagious spirit of freedom that heals you and nearby teammates constantly.
Phantoms
The Phantoms are from the Ghost Recon series, specifically the 2014 Ghost Recon Phantoms. They are basically a jack-of-all-trades as they excel in providing offensive and defensive support.

- Aegis (Ultra): A spherical plasma shield with a point-blank electro-scattergun for close-range combat.
- Mag Barrier (Activated Ability): An electromagnetic barrier that blocks incoming grenades and enemy fire.
- Blitz Shield (Activated Ability): A tactical shield that can also be used for a shield bash.
- Hardened (Passive Trait): Character health is increased via tailored gene therapies.
