Spirits are a big part of Black Myth: Wukong. They can help you transform into a powerful creature in combat.
However, these are not available straight away, and you need to progress through the story to unlock them.
In this ONE Esports guide, we’ll explain how to get and use Spirits in Black Myth Wukong.
How to unlock Spirits in Black Myth Wukong
Before you can start using the Spirits, you’ll need to unlock them first.
For this, you need to progress through the main story until you reach the Snake Trail shrine in Bamboo Grove. This area is available in Chapter 1, so you don’t have to worry about making significant progress for it.
After you’ve reached the Snake Trail shrine, use the stairs to go up. There, you’ll find an old man near a wooden table with candles on it.

Go near the old man and press the required button to talk to him. He will upgrade your Gourd, thanks to which you will be able to use Spirits.
How to get Spirits in Black Myth Wukong
Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong can be acquired by defeating Yaoguai Chiefs and other random enemies that you’ll encounter in the game.
When you defeat these enemies, they drop a blue flame that can be picked up. This blue flame is the Spirit that you can equip and use in combat.

And if, for some reason, your character gets eliminated before you can pick up the blue flame, you can simply return to the area to pick it up.
Wandering Wight will most likely be the first enemy that will drop the blue flame for you. However, this enemy can be fought pretty early in the game, so you won’t be able to use its Spirit until you’ve upgraded your Gourd.
How to use Spirits in Black Myth Wukong
After you’ve managed to acquire a Spirit and have unlocked the ability to use it, you can head over to your inventory and place the blue flame in one of the slots above your armor.

Then, you can use it in combat by pressing the F key on the keyboard or both triggers on the controller (LT + RT) at the same time.
Your character will instantly transform into the shape of the Spirit, and you’ll be able to land a powerful attack afterward. However, while the transformation won’t last for long, your character will gain a passive benefit for as long as the Spirit is in your slot.
