How to get Sword of Darkness in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

In Elden Ring, you can get the Sword of Darkness by offering the Stone-Sheathed Sword to the Altar of Darkness located in the Ruins of Unte.

Once you do that, your Stone-Sheathed Sword will convert to the Sword of Darkness.

How to get the Stone Sheathed Sword

You can get the Stone Sheathed Sword from an altar hidden in the Fog Rift Catacombs. To reach the said location, you must teleport to the Castle Front Site of Grace and follow the above path shown in the map screenshot.

Once you are in the Fog Rift Catacombs, keep progressing until you reach the hall with a rectangular spike mechanism and the wizard at the end of it.

Use the gaps on the left and right side to reach the wizard’s location and defeat all the enemies. Now, stand on the stone fence where the wizard was standing and jump forward as soon as the spike comes down.

The spike has a square opening that you can use to reach the upper floor. There, you will hold a chest with an Ash of War.

Once you collect it, jump on the roof of the spike and stick to the right side. You will find the floor with the altar holding the Stone Sheathed Sword.

Ruins of Unte and the Altar of Darkness are located east of Castle Watering Hole Site of Grace. The only catch is that an inactive Furnace Golem blocks the entrance.

So, to unlock the path, climb up the delipidated building on the left side. Craft a Hefty Furnace Pot and throw it on the Furnace Golem.

Once you do it, drop down and as the Furnace Golem begins to stand up, make your way inside the Ruins of Unte. You will find the Altar of Darkness on the right side of the Ruins entrance.
