How to defeat Guangzhi in Black Myth: Wukong — location, strategies, and rewards 

Guangzhi may be an early boss in Black Myth Wukong, but he isn’t someone who’ll go down without putting up a tough fight.

Unlike some other bosses that rely on their massive size, Guangzhi utilises his speed to land quick attacks.

But with the right strategies and tricks, you’ll be able to defeat Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong without breaking a sweat. 

Guangzhi location in Black Myth Wukong 

Guangzhi is an optional boss, so you can skip fighting him if you’re only focusing on the main ones. But if you’re interested in taking him down, then you can meet him in the Forest of Wolves. 

You’ll need to first defeat the Bullguard and reach the Outside of the Forest Shrine before you can fight him.

How to prepare for the Guangzhi boss fight in Black Myth Wukong

As he is one of the first bosses you’ll encounter in the game, you won’t have a lot of items unlocked that you can use in combat.

However, as most of Guangzhi’s attacks deal fire damage, you will need something that improves your resistance against fire.

For this, we recommend getting some Body-Cooling Powder from a nearby shrine. This will improve your resistance against fire. 

Also, make sure to get a skill that can improve your stamina, as you’ll need to dodge plenty of his attacks. You can invest some points in Rampant Vigor, as this can increase it. 

Or, you can also opt for Simian Agility, which reduces the stamina cost of dodging. This way, you’ll be able to dodge more attacks with the same amount of stamina as before. 

How to defeat Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong

When you first enter the arena, you’ll notice that it is pretty small. Because of this, there will be times when you won’t have anywhere to go, and you’ll be pushed against the corner, so you’ll have to make every move count.

Guangzhi has a moveset that features a mixture of close-range and long-range attacks, but he will always try to close the gap between him and you.

Throughout the fight, he will use a flaming spear to attack you (this is why we recommended getting something that can improve your resistance against fire). 

Now, when the fight starts, Guangzhi will charge toward you and perform a jumping spin attack. This will be followed by a similar attack, and you must dodge it quickly.

Then, he will start using a variety of other attacks, and with each one, he’ll try to perform a combo. Now, we wouldn’t recommend attacking him while he’s in the middle of the combo, as that will end up doing more harm than good.

Instead, wait for him to finish his combo and then proceed with performing a series of quick attacks. Don’t waste too much of your time on heavy attacks, as they are slow. So, they are kind of useless against a quick enemy like Guangzhi. 

Throughout the first phase, just keep dodging his combos and land an attack right after them. After you’ve taken away half of his health, he will start using a few new attacks.

These will be aerial attacks, and they can deal a lot of damage with each hit. So, whenever you see Guangzhi in the air, just back away. 

Overall, if you keep your distance, dodge his combos, and then land a couple of attacks, you’ll be able to defeat him easily. 

Rewards for defeating Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong

After you’ve defeated Guangzhi in Black Myth Wukong, you’ll get his Fiery Blade and a transformation spell called Red Tides. By using this spell, you can transform into Guangzhi and use his abilities in combat.
