While the Xbox Series X is confirmed for a November launch, the next-gen console will be missing one of its highly-awaited exclusives, Halo Infinite.

The game’s developer, 343 Industries, recently announced that Halo Infinite will be delayed until 2021.

“We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision,” stated Chris Lee, Studio Head for Halo Infinite.

Lee continued by saying that multiple factors pushed them to delay the return of Master Chief. Aside from the evident development challenges during the COVID-19 epidemic, a 2020 holiday release would affect the team’s well-being and the overall success of the game.

While it may be a sad day for Xbox and Halo fanatics, they can be reassured that, with the extra time, 343 Industries will be able to deliver a new, ambitious chapter to the legendary Halo series.

Halo Infinite is just one of many delays to happen in 2020. Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed twice with CD Projekt Red setting the official release on November 19 while Arc System Works postponed its upcoming fighting game Guilty Gear Strive to 2021.
