Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 8 recap
Bleach Thousand Year Blood War episode 34 opened with Uryu Ishida delivering a decisive shot to Renji Abarai’s chest, ending their confrontation. Lille Barro observed the battle from a distance while continuing to track the movements of the Soul Reapers.
Meanwhile, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Kenpachi Zaraki, and their allies advanced toward the castle but were stopped by the sudden appearance of Pernida Parnkgjas, one of Yhwach’s elite Sternritter. Kenpachi, unfamiliar with this new opponent, charged in recklessly. Pernida’s abilities quickly became evident when it twisted Kenpachi’s right arm grotesquely.
Despite the injury, Kenpachi managed to strike Pernida, splitting its head open, though the strange movement of its severed head left even Mayuri perplexed.
Observing from a distance, Ikkaku Madarame and Yumichika Ayasegawa expressed relief that they had not followed their captain into battle. After noticing his injured arm twisting out of control, Kenpachi swiftly decided to sever it to prevent the damage from spreading.
Kenpachi’s arm dissolved into a pool of blood, and Mayuri praised Kenpachi’s quick thinking, stating that hesitation would have led to his entire body being overtaken by Pernida’s nerve-manipulating abilities.
Despite Mayuri’s warnings, Kenpachi charged at Pernida again but was overwhelmed by its powers and fell to his knees. Seeing the situation deteriorate, Mayuri intervened and immobilized Kenpachi with his Zanpakuto, Ashisogi Jizo, rendering him unable to move to prevent further harm.
At this point, Mayuri began analyzing Pernida’s abilities and discovered that it could control its opponents by inserting its nerves into their bodies. Pernida’s powers extended even further, allowing it to manipulate inorganic matter.
Pernida attempted to trap Mayuri by spreading its nerves across the ground, but Mayuri used the Quincy technique Hirenkyaku to avoid being caught.
To counter, he deployed one of his experimental creations, which attacked and destroyed one of Pernida’s fingers. However, the severed finger regenerated into a new hand, revealing Pernida’s regenerative abilities.
As the battle escalated, Mayuri reflected on Pernida’s true identity. He realized that Pernida was the Soul King’s Left Arm, a counterpart to the Soul King’s Right Arm, which had been revealed earlier in the war. This revelation underscored the immense power of the enemy he faced.
Mayuri escalated his efforts and summoned his modified Bankai, Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo Matai Fukuin Shotai. The grotesque, infant-like Bankai appeared, designed to counter Pernida’s abilities. Mayuri explained that this new version of his Bankai could peel away Pernida’s nerve layers, numbered in the tens of thousands.
The Bankai overwhelmed Pernida, rendering its nerve-based attacks useless. Mayuri’s Bankai consumed Pernida, effectively neutralizing the Sternritter’s threat.
The episode ended with Mayuri laughing in triumph. He was not only pleased with his victory but also delighted by the opportunity to test his experimental strategies against such a unique opponent.
