We have classified all the Helldivers 2 best stratagems into five tiers. The Helldivers 2 Stratagems tier list tiers are:
- S tier: Powerful stratagems that are good for every encounter
- A tier: Similarly powerful stratagems that are situational and choice-driven.
- B-tier: stratagems suited for early game and lower difficulty settings.
- C-tier: Stratagems that are effective, but are a hassle to use.
- D-tier: You’re better off not using these.

Helldivers 2 best stratagems: S-tier stratagems are the most effective of all. These are useful in all situations, and it would be in your best interest to unlock these before anything else. These stratagems are very satisfying to use and can make encounters more easy to approach. Whether it’s annihilating waves of enemies in a single hit by calling an Eagle Napalm Airstrike or narrowly avoiding getting squashed by a Charger by using the Jump Pack; you can’t go wrong with these stratagems.
Helldivers 2 best stratagems: A-tier stratagems are just as effective as their S-tier counterparts but may be useful only in particular situations or suited to certain playstyles. For instance, the Anti-Material Rifle is great for targeting weak spots but is ineffective against heavily armored enemies with no open vulnerabilities. Similarly, something like the Recoilless Rifle can easily kill heavy armored enemies like the Charger but isn’t as effective against something agile like the Stalker. Also, something like the AX-Las-5 “Guard Dog” Rover provides great support but eventually comes down to whether you want a lethal automated drone to accompany you or not. As such, with the aforementioned A-tier stratagems, you may have to nit-pick and choose the ones that may be more useful to you.
Helldivers 2 best stratagems: B-tier stratagems are more effective in early-game encounters and lower difficulty settings. These are also useful in taking down or avoiding smaller enemies rather than some high-level boss creatures. For instance, the SH-20 Ballistic Shield Backpack provides decent protection from smaller groups of enemies but is pretty much useful against most gigantic Terminids and Automatons in the game. While there are some great stratagems here, you may not find them of much use once you start facing more challenging foes or after increasing the game’s difficulty.
Helldivers 2 best stratagems: C-tier stratagems are as effective as some of the A-tier ones, but they are a hassle to use. Some of them, like the Faf-14 Spear, require the support of another player to fire. Others, like the A/MLS-4x Rocket Sentry, can instantly kill you and your party members if caught in its line of fire. As such, you have to be extra careful with these, though we think they are only worth the trouble if you’re looking for an extra layer of inconvenience-driven challenges.

There’s no point in investing in something like the Eagle Smoke Strike, when there’s a better alternative in the form of Orbital Smoke Strike. Thankfully, as evident from tiers S to C, there are a great number of incredibly powerful and useful stratagems in Helldivers 2, so even if you don’t try the ones mentioned in D-tier, you won’t be missing out much.
