In this article, we rank all the weapons via a Helldivers 2 weapon tier list. Since there are no bullet sponge enemies in Helldivers 2, the best weapon to use is not often the one that deals the maximum amount of damage. Several other factors come into play, like the enemy type as well.
Helldivers 2 weapon tier list explained
We have classified all Helldivers 2 primary and secondary weapons into five tiers. The Helldivers 2 weapon tier list tiers are:
- S-Tier: Powerful weapons that are good for every encounter
- A-Tier: Powerful but situational weapons.
- B-Tier: Early game or moderately good weapons.
- C-Tier: Good but a hassle to use.
- D-Tier: Dumpster fire weapons that have no reason to exist.
Please note that this Helldivers 2 weapon tier list doesn’t contain any special or heavy weapons, which you can unlock via Stratagems.

The Helldivers 2 weapon tier list S-Tier weapons, as mentioned above, are all-round weapons that are good for any scenario. Whether it’s taking down heavily-armored bots like the Devastators or agile bugs like Stalkers, these weapons can and will get the job done. They are also easy to wield. For instance, the SMG-37 Defender is a one-handed weapon, and you can use it with a ballistic shield.
Helldivers 2 weapon tier list A-Tier weapons are more situational, which means they are either great for taking down particular enemies or require assistance from your party members. For instance, the R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper is a solid weapon to target the enemy’s weak points from a distance but to find a safe vantage point, you will need someone to distract the enemy from charging towards you.
As you may have noticed, most Helldivers 2 weapon tier list B-Tier weapons are early-game weapons except a few that do decent damage. You may want to use these in lower-difficulty settings where you won’t come across gigantic boss enemies often. Also, if your Stratagem weapon is your primary weapon, you can use these on the side.
The only Helldivers 2 weapon tier list C-tier weapon – LAS-5 Scythe, is flashy and deals heavy damage but is too cumbersome to use. It also has decent range, but unless you’re out of the enemy’s line of sight, you may not be able to use it efficiently. Additionally, this weapon can overheat, and when that happens, you will probably find yourself in a very precarious situation.
Lastly, the Helldivers 2 weapon tier list D-tier weapons are the absolute worst, and their existence makes no sense. For instance, the SG-8S Slugger has worse damage and fire rate than other shotguns in the game. Furthermore, it’s way down on page 8 of the Warbond. Since it requires a massive amount of Medals to unlock, you would think that it would at least stand out among all the other weapons in its type. Sadly, it doesn’t, and unlocking it will be a waste of time, just like the other D-tier weapons.
