Blue Exorcist season 5 episode 3 looks into the differing philosophies of two exorcists, Shiro and Yuri. Shiro firmly believes in the traditional role of an exorcist — to eradicate demons with absolute force. He views demons as inherently evil entities that must be eliminated to protect humanity.
In contrast, Yuri advocates for a more compassionate approach. She believes an exorcist’s duty lies in helping people, which includes understanding and potentially even coexisting with demons.
She argues that not all demons are inherently malevolent and that some may be victims of circumstances or even possess a degree of sentience.
Shiro finds Yuri’s views unsettling and even dangerous. He believes that such leniency towards demons could jeopardize human safety. This fundamental disagreement leads to tension and conflict between them.
