Sadly, while the entirety of PoE 2 suffers from balancing issues, whether it be the drop rate of rare and unique items or the difficulty scaling of certain bosses, farming Exalted Orbs is the worst.
Best places to farm Exalted Orbs in Path of Exile 2
The best places to farm Exalted Orbs in Path of Exile 2 early access would depend on whether you’re blasting through the three-act campaign or exploring the maps in the endgame.
If you’re still on the campaign, act bosses and elites are a decent source of Exalted Orbs. However, these aren’t guaranteed and would rarely drop more than one at a time unless you’re on cruel difficulty.
Thankfully, there are a couple of Act bosses that you can exploit to farm Exalted Orbs. One of them is the golden beetle boss in The Lost City region of Act 2, which is great for farming Exalted Orbs and other in-game currencies.
The beetle boss used to drop up to 10 Exalted Orbs at a time on cruel difficulty, though Grinding Gear Games nerfed that exploit in a recent patch.
Another Act 2 region, Mawdun Mine, is a solid place to farm most in-game currencies because of the amount of mobs it spawns. If the RNG gods are on your side, you may get a handful of Exalted Orbs in a single run.
If you don’t want to rely on RNG, you can exchange Unique and other currencies for Exalted Orbs on PoE 2’s trade website.
Just like in PoE 1, Trading is vital in PoE 2. It’s one of the best ways to obtain items you need by giving away ones that may be more valuable to someone else.
In the endgame, however, things are a bit better. Even early maps are a great source to farm Exalted Orbs. Since mob density is relatively higher here than acts, there’s more chances for them to drop valuable currencies, including Exalted Orbs.
