This Grass-type deck, centered around Celebi EX and Serperior, can feel like a complete utter gamble at times. Celebi and Exeggutor rely on getting lucky with coin flips to deal significant damage.

With Serperior’s ability, this deck can quickly snowball out of control if left unchecked.

The Jungle Totem Ability doubles the power of all Grass Energy attached to Grass-type Pokemon, regardless of whether Serperior is active or on the bench.

With that in mind, here are several tips to beat this deck:

  • Leverage the power of Fire-type Pokemon to counter the Grass-type Pokemon in this solo challenge. The 20 extra damage per attack will help to cut through their big health pools.
  • If possible, try to knock out Snivy or Servine early before they can fully evolve. Preventing Jungle Totem from activating is the key to beating this deck.
  • If this deck leads with Exeggcute, take advantage of its tiny 50 hit points for an easy KO. Giovanni is your man for this.
  • At times, you’ll just have to pray that luck is on your side when Celebi and Exeggutor are attacking.

There are two ways to approach this deck. One method is to sniff out and remove Serperior from the equation all together. Alternatively, you can try to outpace this deck and cripple Celebi and Exeggutor before Jungle Totem kicks in.

If you own Sabrina, utilize this Supporter card to target and eliminate key Pokemon. This strategic move can significantly disrupt the tempo for this particular deck, especially with how reliant this deck is with the Jungle Totem Ability.

In the case that the snake is untouchable, you’ll need to turn up the heat and threaten the main attackers instead. To do so, you’ll need a deck that features cheap Fire-types to lead with, and have some heavy hitters in the back ready to blow either Celebi or Exeggutor up when they appear.

Some good cheap lead options include Ponyta, Heatmor, and Salandit. While your leads hold the fort, consider building Ninetales, Arcanine, Flareon, or Charizard on the bench to land the finishing blows.
