Deadlock is playable in five regions, and while the game automatically slots players in the ideal areas, it’s possible to change the server manually. Here’s how to change region in Deadlock.
Deadlock is currently undergoing a successful playtest, roping in players from rival MOBA and shooter titles. Since it’s a mix of both genres, it caters to a wide range of audiences, boosting its player count and daily popularity. In September alone, Deadlock peaked at 171,490 players. Eventually, players worldwide are getting the word and jumping on the Deadlock bandwagon.
If matchmaking takes too long in your region due to low crowd levels, switching regions might help you find games faster. Some players may also want to switch regions to be able to queue with a friend across the sea.
However, be aware that region changes don’t guarantee shorter queue times, and if Competitive mode is closed in your time zone, you won’t find matches in other regions.
How to change region in Deadlock
Changing region in Deadlock is pretty simple. All you need to do is enable the console and remember a few commands to switch between regions.
To change region, first press F7 to open the console. In the text box, copy and paste one of the following commands based on the region you want to jump into:
All Deadlock region commands
- North America: citadel_region_override 0
- Europe: citadel_region_override 1
- Asia: citadel_region_override 2
- South America: citadel_region_override 3
- Oceania: citadel_region_override 5
To set the region back to default, type “citadel_region_override -1” in the console text box.
Changing regions may cause ping spikes or reduced in-game performance. To minimize issues, play within your own region. If playing with friends in other regions, consider using a VPN or tools like Exit Lag to improve connection quality.
However, using third-party tools is generally discouraged, so playing within your region during active hours when servers are populated is recommended.
