Rise of the Ronin is a challenging action RPG that puts you into the lush and vibrant open world set in 19th-century Japan. It’s also Team Ninja’s first foray into the open-world genre and features a dynamic day and night cycle that influences both story and gameplay.

In Rise of the Ronin, certain activities and quests are only accessible at night. While there’s a way to fast-forward time, the game does a poor job of explaining it, which makes it easy to miss this useful gameplay element altogether. As such, in this guide, we explain how to change time of day in Rise of the Ronin.

How to change time of day in Rise of the Ronin — fast forward time in Rise of the Ronin

You can change the time of the day in Rise of the Ronin by resting at the longhouse or by using a pocket watch. The longhouse is your safehouse that you unlock after completing the main quest, “A Pleasure District Portrait.”

Once you have gained access to the longhouse, head inside and select the Relax option. Here, you will find the option to Rest. Select Rest to fast-forward time to morning, noon, or night.

You can get the pocket watch by Ryoma Sakamoto, one of the first Ronin you encounter early on in the game. Sakamoto will give you the pocket watch during the main quest, “A Pleasure District Portrait.” It’s easy to lose track of this. You might have unlocked the pocket watch already but lost track of it since the game constantly rewards you with numerous items to use.

To use the pocket watch in Rise of the Ronin, head to the inventory in the equipment section and look for the key items. Select the pocket watch to use it. You can also put the pocket watch in your loadout, so you won’t have to open the inventory every time to use it.

That’s all the ways you can fast forward time in Rise of the Ronin.
