Diablo 4 Season of Witchcraft has brought powerful Witchcraft powers, some of which are whacky recreations of Witch Doctor’s abilities from Diablo 3, while others are unique passives that can strengthen your class skills.
There are over 25 distinct Witchcraft powers in Season of Witchcraft, though they are not the only ways to improve your character builds this season.
There are also Occult Gems, powerful seasonal socketables that complement Witchcraft powers. Since they are build-altering items, this ONE Esports guide explains how to craft Occult Gems in Diablo 4.
What are Occult Gems in Diablo 4?
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of how to craft Occult gems, you may first want to learn what exactly these seasonal socketables are and why they are important.
Simply put, Occult Gems can add an extra affix to jewelry. These affixes can significantly empower your Witchcraft Powers and increase your armor and elemental resistance, so it’s best not to sleep on them.

How to craft Occult Gems in Diablo 4
To start crafting Occult Gems in Diablo 4, you will have to reach Torment difficulty. It’s when Occult Gem recipes start to drop in the Headhunt zones. The Occult Gem recipes are a random drop in the Headhunt zones, so it could take a while to obtain them all.
Once you have acquired an Occult Gem recipe, talk to Gelena, the Coven Jeweler, at Tree of Whispers, and you will find the option to craft Occult Gems. Please note that you won’t see the option to craft Occult Gems in Gelena’s Occult Library until you have obtained an Occult Gem recipe.
There are three tiers of Occult Gems – Magic, Rare, and Legendary, and you will need varying amounts of Fugitive Heads, Restless Rot, and Gem Fragments to craft them.
You can get a Fugitive Head by killing a Headless Husk with their Fugitive Head attached in the Headhunt zones. These are rare spawns, even on Torment 4, so farming those could take a while.
You can get Restless Rot by slaying Headrotten enemies in the Headhunt zone and Roothold dungeons.
As for Gem Fragments, Helltide is the best place to farm those.
