Square Enix’s beloved MMORPG, Final Fantasy 14, is headed to mobile devices. The Japanese publisher has collaborated with the Tencent-owned LightSpeed Studios to bring its iconic title to a new platform.

When is the Final Fantasy 14 mobile release date?
As of this writing, Square Enix has not revealed the release date of Final Fantasy 14 mobile. Sadly, there’s no hint of a release window either on its newly launched website or announcement trailer.
However, play tests will soon begin in China, so there should be plenty of juicy details to delve into not far in the future.
What to expect from Final Fantasy 14 mobile?
Final Fantasy 14 mobile will kick off with A Realm Reborn, in which you will be tasked by the Mothercrystal to take down Primals and save the world of Hydaelyn from destruction.
At launch, FF 14 mobile will feature nine Jobs, which you will be able to freely swap using the Armory system.
Side activities such as fishing, Chocobo racing, and the highly immersive Triple Triad card game will be available, as well, if you happen to visit the Gold Saucer.
The original’s intricate character customization and housing features will also be part of Final Fantasy 14 mobile at launch.
Here’s what the director and producer Naoki Yoshida had to say about the FF 14 mobile announcement in the press release:
“It has been 11 years since FFXIV 2.0: A Realm Reborn launched, and this new mobile game will be a sister to FFXIV, aiming to recreate the grandeur of the original’s story and combat mechanics on mobile devices. Non-combat features, such as Disciples of the Land and Hand, will also be faithfully implemented and we look forward to growing alongside the passionate FFXIV community.”
