The first-ever Star Wars open world game has arrived, but not without its share of problems. Star Wars Outlaws is an ambitious game that looks absolutely breathtaking at times, but that extra fidelity comes at a cost, something that’s not worth the trouble.
The game’s PC version, in particular, suffers from a myriad of technical issues, even on systems with high-end GPUs, as some players have reported insanely high VRAM usage that’s negatively affecting the game’s performance.

Star Wars Outlaws VRAM error fix
While Ubisoft have acknowledged the Star Wars Outlaws’ VRAM issue and released a hotfix that focuses solely on VRAM and stability improvements, there are other ways to improve the game’s VRAM usage. For instance, dialing down RTX Direct Light and Ray
Reconstruction can significantly decrease VRAM usage.
More crowded areas, like the Cantina in any of the cities, use more VRAM, and you may notice washed-up textures and pop-ins after a while. If that happens, it’s best to tweak the game’s resolution to boost performance and reduce VRAM load.
We also noticed that VRAM usage increases drastically over prolonged gaming sessions, and restarting the game seems to decrease it to some extent, though it’s not necessarily a fix.
You may also want to run the game in cinematic mode instead of filling up the entire screen, as the former can affect VRAM usage positively.
Lastly, we suggest checking out Star Wars Outlaws system requirements in case the recommended setting is more than what your PC can handle.
