Like many open world multiplayer survival game, mounts in Palworld are used to travel across the vast world.
However, in Palworld, there are no separate mounts you can purchase or earn. Instead, you’ll need to unlock the ability to ride through certain Pals.

- You’ll need to unlock technology to create saddles to mount your Pals

The Pal Gear Workbench is a crafting table that allows you to craft items that enable Pals to use their Partner Skills.
Pals in Palworld have a variety of skills. These include Active Skills, which are standard attacking abilities, and Work Suitability skills, used for base management like mining and farming.
They also have Partner Skills which are unique abilities specific to each Pal-type. For example, Foxparks have Partner Skills that allow players to holster and use them as a flamethrower. Similarly, rideable Pals have a “mountable” Partner Skill.
In some instances, Partner Skills are available immediately when you catch a Pal. In other cases, you must craft items at the Pal Gear Workbench to enable these skills. Saddles for example, necessary for enabling mounting Partner Skills, are items that you need to craft.
How to build a Pal Gear Workbench
In order to build a Pal Gear Workbench, you’ll need:
- 10 Paldium Fragments
- 10 Wood
- 10 Cloth
After that, you can unlock the Rushoar Saddle technology, enabling you to create a saddle for riding a Rushoar, a boar-like Pal mount.
How to create a Rushboar Saddle
To create a Rushoar Saddle, you’ll need:
- 3 Leather
- 10 Stones
- 5 Paldium Fragments
Other early mounts in Palworld (including a flying mount)
There’s a chance you might not run into a Rushoar at the beginning.
But no worries, there are three more ground mounts and one flying mount that you can capture and ride early in the game.
Melpaca (unlockable with the Melpaca Saddle technology at level 8)
An alpaca-looking Pal that is mountable is one you will run into early on in the game, not very far from beginner’s starting zone.
To create Melpaca Saddle, you’ll need:
- 3 Leather
- 5 Wool
- 5 Paldium Fragments
Direhowl (unlockable with the Direhowl’s Saddled Harness technology at level 9)
A black and white wolf-looking Pal can also be found earlier in the game. They are usually roaming around at night.
To create a Direhowl’s Saddled Harness, you’ll need:
- 10 Leather
- 20 Wood
- 15 Fiber
- 10 Paldium Fragments
Eikthyrdeer (unlockable with the Eikthyrdeer Saddle technology at level 12)
Crafting the Eikthyrdeer’s Saddle is more complicated than the others because it requires ingots.
To obtain these, you’ll need additional technology, the Primitive Furnace, and a Pal with “Kindling” work ability to light the furnace.
Here’s a quick step-by-step guide on how to obtain ingots:
- Reach level 8 and unlock the Primitive Furnace technology.
- Build a Primitive Furnace using 20 wood, 50 stone, and 3 Flame Organs.
- Similar to obtaining Pal Fluids in Palworld, you’ll need to obtain Flame Organs by either capturing or killing Fire-type Pals, like the Foxparks. You’ll also need to capture one of them and put them to work in your base, as you need them for firing up the Primitive Furnace.
- Mine ores. You need 20 ores to create the 10 ingots required for the Eikthyrdeer Saddle.
- Place 20 ores into the Primitive Furnace. Again, make sure a Pal with the ‘Kindling’ Work Suitability skill is present in your base.
- This Pal will automatically ignite the Furnace, refining the ore into ingots.
Eikthyrdeers are also tougher to defeat and capture compared to other early mountable ground Pals. However, the effort is worthwhile as they look magnificent. .
To create a Eikthyrdeer Saddle, you’ll need:

However, to capture them, you’ll probably need to use a bow to deal damage, as you won’t be able to reach with melee attacks.
To create a Nitewing Saddle, you’ll need:
- 20 Leather
- 10 Cloth
- 15 Ingot
- 20 Fiber
- 20 Paldium Fragments
