There’s a new exotic SMG in Destiny 2 alongside an exotic Trace Rifle and we’re going to tell you all about it.

Every Destiny 2 season or episode adds new themed gear, a three-player activity, and artifact perks, among other things and Episode Heresy is shaping up to be no different.

Bungie has already confirmed a new rogue-like activity called The Nether and Star Wars-themed cosmetic items for Heresy, though perhaps the most striking additions this time are the new exotic weapons.

Below, we break down all new exotic weapons in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy, including details like their archetypes, perks, design, and more.

New exotic SMG in Destiny 2

Two new exotic weapons are coming in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy. These are the Barrow-Dyad SMG and Lodestar Trace Rifle.

The Barrow-Dyad exotic SMG is arguably the most unique-looking Destiny weapon ever, one that would feel more at home in Warframe. Perhaps it’s a glimpse of what Bungie’s design team is cooking for Destiny 2 Apollo and beyond.

Looks aside, Barrow-Dyad is an incredibly powerful Strand exotic SMG that you wouldn’t want to sleep on.

Barrow-Dyad’s Intrinsic perk, Panic Response, allows this weapon to generate Blight by dealing damage. Upon reloading, the accumulated blight becomes Blighted Seekers that seek enemies and bounce between them to deal Strand damage.

It’s fairly simple to use, even more so because it can auto-reload itself, so you mostly have to worry about shooting your shots, similar to how it’s with yet another powerful exotic SMG, Osteo Striga.

Barrow-Dyad also comes with a perk called Taken Divergence, which grants you large amounts of Blight by hitting three different targets in a short amount of time.

As of this writing, Bungie hasn’t revealed how you can get Barrow-Dyad, though we suspect it will drop via Heresy’s exotic quest in Act 3.

New exotic Trace Rifle in Destiny 2 -- Destiny 2 Lodestar exotic

The Lodestar Arc exotic trace rifle is a pulse rifle in disguise. However, instead of bullets, it fires bursts of laser beams.

Lodestar’s Intrinsic perk, Starlight Beam, allows this weapon to fire a low-intensity Arc beam with enhanced stability and accuracy.

While you have equipped this weapon, dealing Arc damage from any source will fill the Arc Alignment meter. Once the alignment is complete, hip-firing any enemies with Starlight Beam will jolt them.

Additionally, Arc-debuffed enemies will explode when you deal damage to them when ADS.

You can get the Lodestar exotic trace rifle instantly by purchasing the premium battle pass in Episode Heresy. It will also be available via the free pass, though you will have to grind some ranks before you can get your hands on it.
