Line in the Sand is a precision-frame Arc Fusion Rifle in Destiny 2. It was first introduced in Season of Dawn but has made an unexpected return in Episode Echoes as a reprised weapon with some interesting new perk combinations.
In this ONE Esports guide, we discuss how to get this weapon and our Line in the Sand god roll in Destiny 2.
Linear Fusion Rifles are current favorites for taking down bosses in Destiny 2, especially if recent additions like Doomed Petitioner and Taipan 4-fr are anything to go by. Line in the Sand is no different, and if you’re looking to add the best version of it to your arsenal, you have come to the right place.
How to get Line in the Sand in Destiny 2
You can get Line in the Sand by reaching reputation rank 7 for Failsafe in Destiny 2 Episode: Echoes. Once you have got your first copy of the weapon, you can get subsequent ones by focus-rolling Line in the Sand at Failsafe.
Each focus roll will costs 4 Echo Engrams, so roll wisely.

Destiny 2 Line in the Sand PvE god roll explained
Like most precision-frame LFRs, Line in the Sand makes for a solid PvE weapon in Destiny 2. What makes it unique, however, is the Reservoir Burst perk, which can temporarily turn it into an ads-clearing explosive weapon.
PERK TYPE | PERK DESCRIPTION |
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake: +30 Recoil, +10 Handling |
Battery | Particle Repeater: +10 Stability |
Trait 1 | Rapid Hit: Rapid precision hits temporarily increase stability and reload speed. Or, Clown Cartridge: Reloading this weapon randomly overfills it from reserves. |
Trait 2 | Reservoir Burst: When the battery is full, your next burst deals additional damage and causes enemies to explode on death. |
Masterwork | Stability |
Origin Trait | Cast No Shadows: Dealing melee damage increases this weapon’s handling and loads a small amount of ammo from reserves. |
We recommend Arrowhead Brake for Barrel since it can significantly improve the weapon’s recoil. Having better recoil control is necessary for any LFRs, particularly precision-frame ones, so this is an easy choice.
Next up is the Battery, and you could go no wrong with Particle Repeater as it can further improve this weapon’s recoil control by adding +10 stability.
We recommend either Rapid Hit or Clown Cartridge for the third-column perk. The former will further increase weapon stability and reload speed, whereas the latter will increase its magazine.
Reservoir Burst is an excellent choice for the fourth-column perk, as it can turn this precision weapon into an explosive one. It could be useful in situations when you have to briefly turn your attention away from the boss to clear the ads swarming the area.
For Masterwork, we recommend Stability once again, since it’s one of the most important attributes of any precision-frame Linear Fusion Rifle.
Destiny 2 Line in the Sand PvP god roll explained
While Snipers are arguably a better choice for PvP in Destiny 2, Linear Fusion Rifles aren’t bad either. Line in the Sand could be efficient in PvP, granted you gather the god roll we describe below.
PERK TYPE | PERK DESCRIPTION |
Barrel | Arrowhead Brake: +30 Recoil, +10 Handling |
Battery | Projection Fuse: +10 Range |
Trait 1 | Moving Target: Increased movement speed and target acquisition when moving while aiming down sights. |
Trait 2 | Opening Shot: Improved accuracy and range on the opening shot of the attack. |
Masterwork | Range |
Origin Trait | Cast No Shadows: Dealing melee damage increases this weapon’s handling and loads a small amount of ammo from reserves. |
Arrowhead Barrel is king in PvP as well, thanks to its excellent recoil control and improved handling.
We recommend Projection Fuse instead of Particle Repeater for the Battery, as you could benefit more from Range than Stability in PvP.
Moving Target is a great choice for the third-column perk since it can improve aim assist and ADS movement speed, both of which can make quite a difference in PvP.
Opening Shot is an excellent choice for the fourth column perk this time around instead of Reservoir Burst, as it can boost the accuracy and range of the first shot you make.
It goes without saying, but you would benefit more from this in Crucible than the explosive bonus effect that you can get from Reservoir Burst.
Lastly, for Masterwork, we recommend Range, as it would further increase your chances of inflicting damage to the enemies in PvP.
And that sums up our Line in the Sand god roll in Destiny 2.
