Metaphor ReFantazio ditches Persona for Archetypes, a job-like class system similar to the one seen in games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
This Metaphor ReFantazio Archetype tier list ranks Archetypes from best to worst so you can spend your precious MAG wisely and study Archetypes that would benefit your gameplay experience the most.
Every Archetype in the game boasts unique abilities and offers different team synergy, though deciding which ones to unlock and use can feel a bit overwhelming.
Metaphor ReFantazio Archetype tier list explained
S: Most powerful Archetypes that are suited for endgame content.
A: Powerful Archetypes that are relevant throughout the game.
B: Archetypes that are useful in certain scenarios.
C: Best early game Archetypes.
D: Archetypes that are simply not worth grinding for.
S-tier Archetypes are the best Archetypes in the game, with some of the most unique and powerful abilities that can quickly turn the tides of the battle in your favor.
Most of these Archetypes possess skills that are not inheritable or are too expensive to inherit, such as Prince’s Hero’s Cry, which adds four turn icons. It’s an extremely useful skill to have during some of the long-winded endgame boss encounters.
A-tier Archetypes are slightly less potent than their S-tier counterparts but are still quite efficient in all encounters throughout the game.
If you don’t care about building team synergies or prefer playing on lower difficulty, these Archetypes are perfect since they possess skills that are useful in any situation. For instance, the Cleric’s healing and reviving abilities always come in handy.
It’s also worth pointing out that these Archetypes are relatively easy to unlock, so you won’t have to spend much time grinding for Archetypes EXP.
TIER | METAPHOR REFANTAZIO ARCHETYPE |
S | Prince, Tycoon, Royal Berserker, Royal Summoner, Royal Masked Dancer, Trickster, Warlord, Saviour |
A | Dark Knight, Elemental Master, Merchant, Cleric, Ninja, Destroyer, Berserker, Masked Dancer, Dragoon |
B | Persona Master, Royal Warrior, Warlock, Martial Artist, Soul Hacker, |
C | Wizard, Swordmaster, Pugilist, Knight, Magic Knight |
D | Royal Knight, Assassin, Magic Seeker, Sniper, Paladin |
B-tier Archetypes are effective only in certain situations. For instance, when fighting a boss or a group of enemies who are weak to Dark damage, using an Archetype like Warlock is a wise choice since it can deal massive Dark damage and sustain MP while doing so.
These Archetypes will be most useful when playing Metaphor on the normal or higher difficulty, so if you’re playing the game on anything below this, you can get by without unlocking and using these.
C-tier Archetypes are most suited for early game content, which is the first 20-30 hours. Archetypes like Wizard are great for dealing elemental weakness damage, whereas Magic Knight can improve the team’s defense.
D-tier Archetypes are not worth the time and effort. Most of these are a grind to unlock but don’t offer much value in return.
For instance, Royal Knight can take the longest time to unlock, but you will notice that most of its skills are similar to that of Dark Knight, and you can get by just fine with the latter.
That sums up our Metaphor ReFantazio Archetype tier list. At the end of the day, these are just recommendations — you should use Archetypes that are most suited to your playstyle or what you think is more relevant to your gameplay.
