While plenty of details have emerged about the game’s world, story, and gameplay since then, fans want to know the Crimson Desert release date.
Crimson Desert is an upcoming single-player fantasy open world game in the veins of titles like The Witcher 3 and Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Crimson Desert has been a long time coming, with its gameplay reveal dating back to 2020’s The Game Awards. It’s being developed by Pearl Abyss, the South Korean studio responsible for the popular MMORPG Black Desert Online.
When is the Crimson Desert release date?
The ARPG is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. According to a report by Insight Korea, the game was initially targeting a Q2 2024 release window but was eventually delayed to 2025 alongside the studio’s multiplayer creature-collecting open world game DokeV.
What to expect from Crimson Desert?
The game features fast-paced combat and emphasizes over-the-top action over complex role-playing scenarios. It takes place in a vast and vibrant open world of Pywel, which you are free to explore on foot, horseback, or a bizarre glider-like instrument that seems straight out of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Aside from exploration, you can complete various side quests, fight mythical creatures, or take in the beautiful vistas of its refreshing-looking medieval open world.
As for the game’s story, more concrete details seem to be under wrap, but we know it takes place in a war-torn fantasy world full of political tension and broken alliances.
In Crimson Desert, you play as Kliff, a gruff mercenary traveling across Pywel to find his allies after a gruesome encounter with the members of an opposing faction.
Crimson Desert’s release date is still pretty far away, and we will likely get more information from Pearl Abyss as we head close to its launch.
For now, you could check out over 50 minutes of exclusive new Crimson Desert from IGN which showcases the game’s environments, combat encounters, and the protagonist Kliff, among other things.
