Plague Inc. developers, Ndemic Creations, have announced a new update for the game that will “let players save the world from a deadly disease outbreak.”
The update has been developed alongside the World Health Organization and will let players fight the disease by managing healthcare systems as well as controlling real-world actions such as triaging, quarantining, social distancing and closing of public services.
The update will be available soon and will be free for all owners of the game.

Ndemic also announced that they will be donating US$250,000 to COVID-19 causes, split equally between WHO and Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) on behalf of all the game’s players.
“Eight years ago, I never imagined the real world would come to resemble a game of Plague Inc. or that so many players would be using Plague Inc. to help them get through an actual pandemic,” said James Vaughan, creator of Plague Inc. “We are proud to be able to help support the vital work of the WHO and CEPI as they work towards finding a vaccine for COVID-19.”
