As the Path of Exile 2 early access launch draws near, a common question among players is, “Can you play Path of Exile 2 on Steam Deck?”
Unlike Path of Exile (also referred to as PoE 1), Path of Exile 2 early access version will be released simultaneously on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Handheld devices, specifically Steam Deck, have also become a popular platform of choice for action role-playing game (ARPG) titles like Diablo 4 and Last Epoch, and you may be wondering if Grinding Gear Games has been working to make PoE 2 Steam Deck verified.
ONE Esports reveals whether you can play Path of Exile 2 on Steam Deck and other handheld gaming devices.
Compatibility of Path of Exile 2 on Steam Deck explained
As of this writing, Grinding Gear Games has not confirmed whether Path of Exile 2 is Steam Deck verified or not.
However, game director Jonathan Rogers has confirmed that PoE 2 is playable on Steam Deck and runs smoothly at 40 FPS.
On being asked about the game’s Steam Deck status by RPG Site and The Outer Haven during a Q&A session, Rogers announced that the studio has made “significant progress” on getting PoE 2 running on devices like Steam Deck.
It’s worth pointing out that the original Path of Exile is not Steam Deck verified either, but it is playable.
PoE 2 early access launch could be similarly handled across all handheld devices. However, some UI texts may appear smaller and could be difficult to read, which is also the reason why the initial installment was not verified in the first place.
Either way, if you want to play Path of Exile 2 on Steam Deck, you should be able to, as long as you’re okay with the targeted FPS and UI issues.
