Updated on February 5, 12:55 p.m. (GMT+8): Improved relevancy.
The heart of Persona 3 Reload is still about you finding out the festering truth about Tartarus, the Dark Hour, and the shadows.
But P3R reminds you that no journey is complete without the friends you make along the way.
And for some of the romance options in ATLUS’ remaster of the beloved RPG, you can be a little more than friends.
Build Persona 3 Reload romances with these charming characters
Yukari Takeba
Yukari is the first person you meet in Persona 3 Reload, and she certainly leaves a lasting impression. Beneath her cutesy, outgoing appearance, there’s this underlying mean streak that comes through, especially in her interactions with Junpei Iori.
Yet, she’s constantly kind to people, especially to those she doesn’t know — including the Protagonist.
She can be easily spooked, especially by the insinuation of ghosts (especially ironic when we delve into the sea of Shadows called Tartaerus constantly) and yet, is brave enough to confront street thugs, threatening the group.
She’s a walking contradiction and a half, and what should your response be?
You can fix her. And it’ll be a rewarding journey in doing so.
Mitsuru Kirijo
Meeting Mitsuru is like colliding with an iceberg. She’s an intelligent, albeit cold and calculating, leader, centering her life around the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad.
Multiple talents aside, her front-facing, Ice Queen personality isn’t the only thing she shrouds in ice. Born with a golden spoon in her mouth, Mitsuru’s life experiences are very different from the rest of us, to say the least.
There’s an endearing naivety behind her actions, striving for a better world — and better friends — the only way she knows how.
She definitely comes across as aloof and impersonal. Spend some time with her, however, and you can observe her valiantly try to break through that shell through her own efforts. And if you’re willing to assist, a guiding handhold or two wouldn’t hurt.
Yuko Nishiwaki
Yuko is the team manager of the athletics club, and her passion shines in whatever she chooses to dive into.
Yuko wears her kind heart on her sleeve, and nothing exemplifies it more than her willingness to spend her spare time coaching elementary school kids for an impromptu competition.
Dating Yuko will be about pushing yourself — but she’ll be there every step of the way, cheering you on, and dispensing advice you need to hear.
Chihiro Fushimi
Chihiro is the treasurer of the student council, but her extreme shyness means you don’t really get to talk to her until long after you meet her.
The Protagonist learns that Chihiro’s unwillingness to talk to you stems from her fear of boys, and it takes three tries to even kick off the Social Link with her.
But her problems run deeper than that – more than her fear of men, her true crutch is the inability to stand up for herself.
What can you do about this predicament? A lot of patience, a lot of time spent, and a lot of kindness. Chihiro has a long journey to independence, but she’ll never forget you if you put in the time for her.
Fuuka Yamagishi
Fuuka is a kind-hearted, but reserved girl. Due to her inability to speak up, she was incessantly bullied in school — resulting in her entrapment in Tartarus.
Her own inner strength shines through, however, when she’s not only able to survive in Tartarus for days, but manifests her Persona in order to protect her bully!
Fuuka’s outwardly reserved nature does nothing to hold back her strong resolve. Dating Fuuka will have a lot of quiet days, nestled in the corner with a good book — but she will have your back no matter what you get into.
Aigis
Aigis is a high-functioning robot with guns for hands, and is also the funniest person in your dorm.
Whether it’s her saying she’ll be a great beginner’s option for battling due to her straightforward nature and usage, or her complete inability to read social situations, Aigis seems impossible to form a bond with due to her fundamental differences.
Though Aigis heart is made by machines, it can be molded by humans. Her strong desire to protect the Protagonist means she goes to extreme lengths to be by your side, and in turn, you can help her learn what it truly takes to be a person.
She might not become human, but she can become yours.
