The Mythical Island booster pack has officially landed in Pokemon TCG Pocket, and trainers everywhere are already eagerly pulling for brand new cards including the highly anticipated Mew, Celebi, and Gyarados EX cards.

But the big question is: What meta decks can you build with these new powerhouse additions?

In this ONE Esports guide, we’ll break down the most effective card combinations and strategies featuring the newest Mythical Island booster pack to keep you ahead of the competition.

Celebi EX and Serperior meta

This deck functions similarly to a Mewtwo EX strategy but features Celebi as your main powerhouse and Serperior as your battery. You have the flexibility to either stall until Celebi is ready to hit the field or play Celebi as your starting card while sustaining it with supporter cards.

Since most of the Pokémon in this deck are Grass-type, you can easily keep your active Pokémon alive using Erika and Potions for healing. To further slow down your opponent, Sabrina can be used to stall, buying you valuable time to load up Celebi with the Grass Energy it needs.

The more energy you attach to Celebi, the higher its damage output, allowing you to stack damage. However, overcommitting energy can be overkill, but the RNG factor says otherwise.

Most of these cards can be found in the new Mythical Island booster pack, while essential trainer cards like Erika and Sabrina can be obtained from the Charizard Pack.

This deck consists of:

  • Snivy 2x
  • Servine 2x
  • Serperior 2x
  • Celebi EX 2x
  • Xspeed 2x / Giovanni 2x
  • Sabrina 2x
  • Professors Research 2x
  • Pokeball 2x
  • Potion 2x
  • Erika 2x

Gyarados EX Deck

This Gyarados deck focuses on building up Gyarados EX as your primary attacker while setting up its Rampaging Whirlpool. Gyarados has one of the highest HP points in the game and it only costs one evolution to make him tanky.

Start with Eevee as your active Pokémon to buy time while Magikarp evolves into Gyarados. Once Vaporeon hits the field, its ability to manipulate energy becomes crucial, allowing you to efficiently transfer Water Energy to Gyarados.

To accelerate energy gain even further, Misty provides additional Water Energy support, giving you the edge in building a fully charged Gyarados in no time.

It is important to note that this strategy relies on the new Eevee and Vaporeon cards obtained from the Mythical Island booster pack, not from the old ones.

Most of these cards can be found in the new Mythical Island booster pack, while essential trainer cards like Misty and Sabrina can be obtained from the Charizard Booster Pack and Pikachu Booster Pack.

This deck consists of:

  • Eevee 2x
  • Vaporeon 2x
  • Magikarp 2x
  • Gyarados EX 2x
  • Xspeed 2x
  • Sabrina 2x
  • Professors Research 2x
  • Pokeball 2x
  • Potion 2x
  • Misty 2x

Mew and Gardevoir meta

This card combo can effectively counter the Mewtwo EX deck when played properly. Mew’s ability to “copy” moves for the cost of three random energies makes its performance heavily reliant on your opponent’s lineup.

In this deck, Sabrina becomes an offensive asset, forcing your opponent to bring out their Pokémon with the strongest attack, which Mew can then mimic to turn the tide of the match.

To reliably summon Mew onto the field, the new Supporter card, Budding Expeditioner, plays a crucial role by quickly adding Mew to your hand, ensuring you’re ready to execute this counterplay without delay.

Most of these cards can be found in the new Mythical Island booster pack and Mewtwo booster pack, while Sabrina can be obtained from the Charizard Booster Pack

This deck consists of:

  • Raltz 2x
  • Kirlia 2x
  • Gardevoir 2x
  • Mew EX 2x
  • Budding Expeditioner 2x
  • Sabrina 2x
  • Professors Research 2x
  • Pokeball 2x
  • Potion 2x
  • Giovanni 2x

Aerodactyl Deck

This deck is guaranteed to frustrate every TCG player you encounter. Golem not only boasts a massive attack, but it can also mitigate 30 damage from every incoming hit, making it an absolute tank on the field. To make matters worse for your opponent, Aerodactyl’s ability prevents an active Pokémon from evolving.

To execute this plan, use Geodude as your initial line of defense while setting up Old Amber to summon Aerodactyl. The best part? Aerodactyl doesn’t need to be in the active zone for its ability to take effect, so you can freely hinder your opponent’s attempts to evolve their Pokémon while Golem delivers devastating blows.

Meanwhile, Sabrina can be used offensively to force your opponent’s key Pokémon into the active zone, further preventing it from evolving and locking down their strategy entirely. This deck is a nightmare to face and a joy to pilot, ensuring every match plays out on your terms.

Most of these cards are available in the new Mythical Island booster pack. Meanwhile, Giovanni can be found in the Mewtwo booster pack, and Sabrina is obtainable from the Charizard booster pack.

This deck consists of:

  • Geodude 2x
  • Graveler 2x
  • Golem 2x
  • Aerodactyl EX 2x
  • Old Amber 2x
  • Sabrina 2x
  • Professors Research 2x
  • Pokeball 2x
  • Potion 2x
  • Giovanni 2x
